Yoghurt or Oats is my preferred breakfast.
This morning I realised that we ran out of my regular brand but as luck would have it in this weeks grocery box came a sample of free yoghurt from another brand!
I was so happy!
But, I knew something was wrong the moment I took the first bite.
Something was off with my yoghurt this morning.
It looked like yoghurt but it didn't taste like yoghurt it tasted strangely earthy.
I went to investigate.
I grabbed the package I never seen before and gave it a good look.
Plant Power! I was tricked.
It appears soy products have sneakily infiltrated the dairy section of the supermarket now.
I guess nobody wanted to buy it so they give it away for free.
It should come with warning labels.
I checked the box for ingredients and saw that the product has 10% soy and 90% of other stuff.
Wether that is healthy or not I don't know, I'm not an expert.
I still ate it though. Added some honey to mask the taste and munched it down.
I don't like throwing food away. Even if it's as unnatural as plant based yogurt.
I just don't get.
This constant need to trick people into trying plant based alternatives for food that has been perfected over hundreds of years.
It will never taste the same.
Give me a plant based breakfast instead that is better than a bowl of milk and oats with a sliced banana or a creamy bowl of yogurt with fruits and I'm your man.

Sounds horrible. Heard of the healthier option "vegan" sausage rolls they started servng in the UK? People are ending up in hospital just from the taste alone! :)
LOL!
Just one more reason to escape!
I actually use 50-50 milk and almond milk to make my daily porridge. With... cinnamon, honey, berries, apple and pumpkin seeds. It's just an awesome breakfast.
I don't trust soya... it has a high estrogen content and I don't want man boobs.... nut milks are my alternative - I find milk too claggy to drink loads of it.
Personally I'd rather eat food in its natural state! IE not processed!

Oat milk or rice milk for me as I find almond too sweet.
I heard the same about soya re: manboobs - no thanks! Plus it can be quite sour, as the big mans face suggests!
mmm....I already got man boobs even without it :)
Well I hadn't noticed so I guess you carry them well.
Nothing a few hundred hours in the gym and a year of dieting can't sort out anyway!

LOL! I'll do my best :)
That is horrible that they did that to you! I have a thing of greek yogurt with some granola every morning at work and I would be really upset if they tricked me that way.
I like granola too!
I would stay clear of soy... in some men, soy has been proven to increase estrogen and other female hormones... I don't think you want tits, if you do go ahead hahaha
The worse part is that there are people that are allergic to soy! That package should have a big warning signing saying it's made from soy...
Lol, I love the disgusted face!
lol, sort of like drinking Maduro beer.
Hehe, exactly! :0D
Hehe nice face🤣
Totally agree with you don’t hide or try to make things look like the same. There’s a reason it doesn’t taste and look the same.
Hopefully it was a 1meal try or are there leftovers?

if its got ingredients, don't eat it! oh except maybe Tim Tams and ice cream:)
lol! Sharp! :)
We have similar tastes for breakfast! I think these non-dairy products but which mimic dairy products make sense for those who are fasting or have lactose intolerance.
Awesome picture, with you looking at the 'fake' yogurt! :)

I smiled when I read your message. I have similar experiences with this type of yogurt. Because I can not tolerate lactose, I buy lactose-free yogurt in the Netherlands. Here in France, lactose-free yogurt is difficult to obtain, so I buy soy yogurt. It tastes like wet grains, not my cup of tea. You get used to it, but it is not the real thing.
I am an omelette guy in the morning ... always from cracked eggs (simple eggs and some chopped up onions). I picked up a carton of the pre-whipped egg once and it just doesn't taste the same.
I've made yogurt many times. I can not think of why anyone would move to vegetable based crap. Fresh milk and some rennet, then let it simmer in the Instant Pot - voila. Then just remember to save a little bit for when you want to make more.
However, I usually buy my yogurt, the home made stuff doesn't taste significantly better than the store bought, so I prefer the convenience.
It is easier when you know what you are getting into for sure! I have been more willing to try things like that lately but our palate gets so used to tastes that it is always difficult to transition but sometimes they are worth the benefits in the long run.
