The fish are here, you just need to know where to look. Here is another 20lb+ fish captured from the river Torrens South Australia.
This fish fell to a cube of cheese and slice of garlic close to the far bank. i had to wait 3 hours for the bite, but it was worth the wait. The hardest thing is to not catch smaller fish constantly - less fun when it's nearly 40C in the shade - to single out the larger fish takes good watercraft and confidence that the "bite" will come. Most that i see fishing have the wrong fishing gear and terminal tackle to catch these fish. More often than not, lines are either snapped or rods are pulled in.
I've been invited onto @pennsif's radio show which uses discord. All Stewards of Terra Mater are also invited to be on the same show at the same time. Are you interested?
Absolutely :) i was a little late for the live broadcast on the last one - will check on @Pennsif to see when the next one is -
That is a huge carp! Check out my blog of a carp my son caught in a canal.
Wonderful my friend..@realtreebivvy. I think all fish know you... Because you're causing them horror. hehe
That could be true - i occasionally catch the same fish more than once :)
I wouldn't know the first thing about fishing, but I'm assuming you put the fish back in when you're finished?
Absolutely - The fish was returned to catch another day - i don't tolerate people that say i "must" kill the fish - because it's the law - it's not the law, i will defend what is morally right despite the ignorance of some of these knuckle draggers here in south Australia - i guess it's an English thing - i view their statements like "i want you to beat a puppy to death" sometimes these "twats" have no idea how close they come to tipping me over the edge... Love and peace to all Mike - i miss a pint of abbots :)
I'll have to send you one!
Yeah, those "You have to kill them" people annoy the crap out of me. I am close to totally losing it with the next twat to tell me it is illegal to return them.
What a great fish! Definitely worth the wait.
Hmmm, rods pulled in... silly buggers, who forgets to put the bait runner on? I will just go sit in a corner and hang my head in shame...
On my way down now for a bit of a session. Would be nice to get one half as big.
Thanks matey - i have photo's of myself retrieving a lost rod from the bottom of a lake and swimming back to shore with the fish still on :) Not my rod, but it was the talking point on the lake for months... Even with all the right gear, iv'e had the rod pulled off the pod more than once when snag fishing or just in close. i'm currently lending my carp gear out so i fish without my Stratos fs 12000 baitrunners and fox warriors - and use my Diawa Emcast advanced 5500 and fox sfd rods.
Just got a new rod to replace the lost one. About to give it a test run. A little Shimano 6'6 Sahara 3-5kilo with 8 pound braid, 8 pound flouro leader. On a Sedona 2500 reel. Feels nice and balanced in stringing the reel, so am about to see how it goes on the water. Hopefully christen it with a good fish, knowing my luck, will catch a minnow.
So a 2 piece spinning rod and a fancy reel with gold on, no bait runner? - For catching carp around 5kg -wow - Adrenaline junky - that must be fun on such light gear, i'm sure you will do fine, and catch plenty - that's the kind of gear id use for yellow fin whiting LOL - i use a abu veritas and team diawa tierra for the whiting, if i tried to catch carp on that - i don't think i could get them in - id just get spooled - i'm sure you would love to do some "propper carpin", rods on alarms, chillin with beer in hand - talking into the night - everything from philosophy to quantum physics -best books through to best movies- waiting for that screaming run from a 20+ or even a 30+ .... i got the itch now :)
Oh, you know how to paint a pretty picture! Yep, great fun on the light gear. It started as habit picking up carp as bycatch on my Yellowbelly trips, and just getting used to the gear.
Got a nice fish this evening, about 5some kilo. The gear performed really well. Smooth drag under a long fast run, and the rod was great close in, really pleased and looking forward to many more sessions with the rig.
wow that's impressive fish up voted
This is really amazing
Thank you :)
