Richard Simmons was a man who has entertained and downsized many a person.
I went to YouTube and found this very simple gem that I'd like to share with you:
This is what I’m trying to say in this blog. I’m trying to say that what you eat doesn’t matter. It’s not even how much you eat to some extent.
It’s the fact that we eat then just sit on our butts and watch TV or play video games.
I love his sentiment though. Just find an exercise regime that you love then do it.
I like to walk. Our house sits in the bottom of a sort of gully so have to walk uphill wherever I go. It’s great because it makes me use more energy to get anywhere by foot.
We’re also a 5 minute drive from the beach or the coastal walkway.
The coastal walkway is 12.7km long from the port to BellBlock and soon to be Waitara. It’s easy but the beautiful surroundings just give you the impetus to just push on. There and back the entire length is just over the length of a half marathon.
As we head into winter I’ll be making more use of the Nintendo Wii with the WiiFit board for those truly miserable days but I think I’ll try to brave the elements and just go for walks anyway. After all, it’s only rain, it can’t kill me… unless it flash floods, then I’m screwed.
Exercise doesn’t need to be a chore but it does require us to get out of our comfort zone. That’s what I’m trying to make a goal of doing. Hopefully “going out of my comfort zone” won’t be about going for a walk but for lazing on the couch. I don’t think that will happen but one can dream.
