I mean I guess the Earth could be a rotating 2-D plane (like a treadmill) but different locations having different sun angles in comparison to the horizon would seem to debunk this. There are a lot of misunderstandings of flat earth theory. When you try to apply globe principles to flat earth it makes it hard to grasp. In flat earth, the sun is a much smaller, closer object than in the globe model.
Excellent question- one I still ask myself. There's literature out there to find, and that's what I'll be looking up when I so choose to dig deeper.
