Making of Potato Chips at Home

in #food7 years ago

Making various snacks at home is the tradition in India. In different season different snacks are made depends on the availability of fresh raw ingredients.

Now winter season is in its last phase and it is the time of potato harvesting so with season's fresh potato it is the right time to make potato chips at home. As compare to available in the market it is hygienic and healthy.

Of course, it needs some time to devote and hard work but ultimately it is worth investing time and energy when it gives a lot of satisfaction and pleasure while eating this.

Ingredients

Medium to big size season's fresh potato.

Procedure

  • Wash them thoroughly to remove all mud.
  • Peal and immerse in water, do not keep open as it would turn dark.
  • Make chips with slicer directly in the water.
  • Boil for 10-15 minutes, do not overcook.

Now when it is cooked, the most important part of the procedure which needs patience is to sundry it. It needs to be separated one by one and spread properly on any plastic sheet or clean cloth.

It becomes dry almost in 24 hours. Now collect all and store in airtight container to enjoy round the year.

The most important thing is missing: Which spices to use to make them as addicting as industrial ones :)

No idea about that spices, you can use spices of your choices. Thanks! :-)

I love potatoes. In Poland we eat them a lot 😉 But I
afraid of fried potato due to the fat content so most often I decide to cook or bake them 😋

Yes, baking is also a good and healthy option, thank you for sharing your views!

Wow, thanks!
I am always looking for healthy (oil-free) snack ideas, and this one looks delicious. I am going to make these and spray vinegar and dill (mix of water, vinegar, dill and salt in a spray bottle) on them.

I fried it so it is not oil free but you can make your own way. Thank you!

I imagine making this recipe and then putting my favorite TV series with a cold beer. I share my recipe if the green plantein is to your liking. https://steemit.com/food/@paolapaopoly/green-plantain-patties-empanadas-de-platano-verde

Sure will see your recipe, thanks!

Thanks!! I follow :)

I love potato chips and just learnt a new way of making it. The way I make mine is this:

I wash the potatiesbtobget mud and dirt off, then I peel using a slicer. Next, I soak it in boiling water to which salt has been added for 10-20 minutes, before frying over medium heat.

I'll try your method to see how it comes out. Thanks for sharing.

Your procedure is almost same, the only difference is that you fry it without drying. Try this method and share your experiences with us. thanks!
