What fruit is this?
This tropical fruit is Rollinia Capri, locally known as Nona Belanda, foreigner who has enjoyed it also call it the lemon-meringue-pie fruit. This exotic fruit is originated from South America. It is closely related to the soursop. Its shape is yellow sphere with black tips when completely ripe. To eat the flesh inside, you can just peel the skin off the way you peel an orange, or just cut through it.
Hmm, does it even taste good?
The texture of its flesh is incredible! It's creamy and silky smooth. The smell isn't strong but it almost smells like lemon. The taste however, is AMAZING! You would be overwhelmed the first time you try it. Some said it tasted like lemon meringue pie, others stated its like soursop without the sourness plus it's much, MUCH sweeter. But for me its a mixture between the two, and like a lemon frosting on a cake. Delicious!
I'm totally going to plant these, it will bear fruit around 1.5 years, but only thrives on tropical regions and fertile soil. When unrefrigerated, the fruit will stay fresh up to 10 days. These fruits are relatively uncommon compared to durians and soursop, but if you're lucky enough, you could find them in any Tamu (local term for agricultural markets in Sabah) during its fruiting season.

A friend of mine had planted almost 200 trees of this fruit around Papar. It hasn't reached the age of 1.5 years yet. It would be interesting to see all the trees fruiting at once. Provided the soil is fertile though.

Wow that is a lot, he sees the potential of this fruit as well. It could be exported domestically as well, but the thing with tropical fruits is that it oxidised in air very quickly, we have to come up with preservation technique. Thank you for reading and stopping by at my blog too!
