Hoy se celebro el Día Internacional del Chocolate por lo cual es un buen momento para hablar un poco sobre este delicioso alimento. Hoy también se celebra el día Internacional del Cacao luego de que la Organización de productores de Cacao llegara a un acuerdo con la Academia Francesa de Chocolate.
Su historia se remonta a 500 aC cuando los indígenas lo descubrieron por casualidad mientras realizaban cerveza con el Cacao que poseían en Centroamérica y parte de Suramerica. El Chocolate es creado mediante mezclas de azúcar y la fermentación del Cacao. No fue hasta luego del descubrimiento de América que los españoles llevaron el Cacao y el chocolate a España. Las primeras fabricas de chocolate aparecieron en el siglo XVII dando un fuerte auge a este rico alimento.
Los países no anglosajones celebran el día Internacional del Chocolate el 13 de Septiembre en homenaje del natalicio de Roald Dahl.
)El chocolate fue agregado como ración de combate por parte de los Estados Unidos de América en la segunda guerra mundial debido a su aporte calorico y también se creía que incrementaría el valor moral de las tropas. Hershey Company fue la encargada de crear el chocolate con las siguientes características:
- Peso: 4 Onzas
- Que soportara altas temperaturas.
- Contener un gran aporte calorico.
- Mejor sabor.
Las barras de chocolates fueron incluidas en el Apollo 15 en 1971.
