HEAVEN #65: Kobebeef Wagyu Teppanyaki Osaka

in #food8 years ago (edited)

DOJIMA Teppanyaki Restaurant

If you go to Kyoto/ Osaka you have to try out Wagyu. Kobe is not far so you will get all kinds of fantastic Wagyu in this Area. My friend who is a real wizard of being a member of strange VIP programs told me that he had a 50% off Voucher for Dinner. Well usually I won't go eat Steak in a Hotel (very expensive) but with a 50% Voucher that would be no problem.

He told me that we had to come to the Dojima in the Crown Plaza Hotel. While the Hotel is only a 4 Star Hotel, the restaurant is really 5 Star... If you never heard of Teppanyaki, it is a plate where in front of you a chef prepares the food. It is so delicious as there is no delay before the food touches your mouth

This was one of the Dinners I had in a long time. The Beef was marbled and delicious. It was just melting in my mouth. If you ever go to Japan only order the meat medium rare. Medium kills the taste of the meat too much, if you do well done you won't understand the difference of the meat quality.

The scallops, the fish everything was cooked to perfection. Combined with the beautifully colored vegetables the meal was like a painting. It felt like food art.

But the best thing were the fresh Bamboo. Most people never have the chance to eat super fresh Bamboo. The ones you get in cans are ok, but nothing compared to fresh bamboo prepared in front of you. It is such a great taste. Most people do not realize what they are missing out. If you go in May you can eat Bamboo in Japan, it is the harvest season.

Just as in information, we were a party of 4 and the food did cost us 100,000 yen (900 USD) with the voucher only 50,000 Yen (450 USD) which was a real bargain for this dinner. If you eat Kobebeef in Tokyo 1 Person is 300 USD...

How do you like your meat ???

That Wagyu looks glorious! And the bamboo reminds me of when I was a kid. My grandmother would have me go out into the backyard and dig up bamboo as a side dish for dinner.
