I travel the world #347: How to go shopping in Hawaii

in #food8 years ago

Shop until you drop

Hawaii is a Paradise for shoppers. You have so many shopping areas (Ala Monana Center, several at Waikiki etc.) that you could go shopping for a couple of days without a problem. Yeah, woman love it, man just wanna chill at the beach. When I am in the US, I always try to buy cloth for a whole year. It is so much cheaper than in Asia.

Before I go to the normal shops, I usually try out Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx and and even ROSS. I bought my new Flipflops at ROSS at a discounted price of 15 USD (instead of the normal 47 USD). So usually I do some bargain hunting and after that I go to the normal shops and try to find a good deal there. Hawaii is always holiday season, so they always have some kind of deals going on...

After a nice ride with the free of charge JCB bus, I bought some Omusubis at Shichimusubi. The price was ok, but it is annoying that you have to pay extra for the Seaweed. The Onigiri itself were delicious, so I can recommend them.

Do you like Omusubi with or without Seaweed ???

I usually end up buying an extra suitcase at Ross to bring home all of my purchases. (Always buy too much)

In general, I prefer my onigiri without nori.

Question for you. Is omusubi the same as onigiri? Looking at the picture, I assumed it was onigiri.

Perhaps I am mistaken?

yes it is the same ;)

at ross I usually find 1-2 itesm I wanna buy. but it is always fun to search for things. beach sandels are always greawt. all brands so cheap

Hawaii is a very beautiful city and indeed a holiday city. It is among my long lists of countries to visit. These pictures are so cute and thanks for sharing.

I travel the world as well. Sadly after 15 years of travel I have lost or deleted every picture. I guess I will have to live with the memories.

hmm. maybe use dropbox next time to save them?

i wish i could have travel like you dude. nice photos upvoted.

I remember when I was 16 I went to Kauai... we stopped at Honolulu and took a smaller plane to the last island. I remember shaved ice, rainbows, the twin falls and not so much humidity..but that sun was HOT! My nose peeled Lol..the shops were all outside with no actual mall so everything was sandals or surf boards... and I got stung by a man o war jellyfish in the ocean ahaha..can't wait to visit again!

yeah . at the place where the internatial shopping mall was, there were only food trucks. .. now it is a whole mall

thank you for good posting.

Don't seem to be open 24h but at least seems they have good food around.

yep. not 24h. but who needs 24h ;)

Not me but there are those who cannot sleep zzzzz

Some good pictures here.

Looks like you had a great time shopping!

indeed I had ;)

I always like to occasionally check out Ross, especially for the art and craft supplies. It is so much cheaper than bigger department stores. Hawaii really does have a whole host of stores, merchandise, and variety. It is fun to look around. Your food choices looked amazing!
