Oh, you are going to be even more jealous now!! I have bananas growing in my yard as well and will have a banana blossom to cut soon.
I am going to try it steemed this time.
I learned how to eat it from my Filipino friend but we peel all the outer layer off and pull the pedals, and cut the inner heart part in small pieces. then soak it in salt water, cook it with coconut milk and put vinegar...

We do sometimes add it into soup with coconut milk, but we have to boil it first as some people could taste the bitterness

Yes, that is true. I send some seeds to Canada and it cost me $13 in shipping for a few seeds lol
