Lemon Kurd

Where to use lemon kurd? Lemon kurd is perfect for decorating cakes, cupcakes and tartlets. This is a great alternative to any cream.

Lemon kurd consists of five ingredients and is a bit like pudding. Lemons give kurd a slightly sour taste with a pleasant aroma. I like to feel lemon zest in lemon kurd.


Ingredients:


4 egg yolks
sugar 130 g
lemons 3 pcs.
salt pinch
butter 90 g


Instructions:


Rinse the lemons under running water. Grate the lemon zest into a glass bowl and squeeze the juice.

Add egg yolks, sugar and a pinch of salt to the lemon mixture.

Add water to the pot and boil on the stove. Put a glass bowl on the pot and reduce the heat.

Cook lemon kurd to a thick state for about 10 minutes. Add butter and mix until completely dissolved.

Cool lemon kurd and put in glass jars.

I'm also sure that the lemon kurd is perfect for morning toasts with coffee.

I am certain that I have eaten it before, and heard of it, but never knew it was such as simple ingredient combination. With so much sweet produce coming back into season soon, I love to use the tartness of citrus or rhubarb to increase the complexity.

The thickness from the reduction would work very well people that have difficulty swallowing fast-flowing liquids; this group often does not get to experience gourmet ingredients or methods of cooking, but hopefully that changes. Thanks for the inspiration!!
