experiencing a traditional scottish breakfast with square sausage and a tattie scone?!? M’kay! :)

in #food7 years ago

so this certain breakfast had been staring me in the face for some time from the menu and had caught my eye because of this ‘lorne’ sausage that upon hearing conversations in the cafe was square?! - m’kay, never had a square sausage before so i kinda had to investigate this and why the hell not, i had a lot to celebrate today (not that i need an excuse for breakfast)

i have to say i really enjoyed this scottish twist to breakfast, the ‘tattie scone’ was basically like an irish soda bread in many ways apart from being potato, butter and salt and came in like a triangle shape — i finished the lot of and i really enjoyed it, they are trying to make me have black pudding next time but i’m kinda against the idea of it.

So that incredibly tasty square sausage then .. .

The lorne sausage, also more accurately known as square sausage is a traditional Scottish food usually made from minced meat, rusk and spices. It is commonplace in traditional Scottish breakfasts

And that tattie scone!?. ..

A potato scone or tattie scone is a regional variant of the savoury griddle scone which is especially popular in Scotland. Many variations of the recipe exist. They generally include liberal quantities of boiled potatoes, butter and salt

Don’t even get me started on the desserts this place makes because they are quite positively off the chart tasty! :)

all these for a breakfast ?! Looks like Yummy

just the top breakfast ;) - the rest was for sale and looked incredible.

nice, breakfast is the most important meal! :)

Ohhh breakfast porn, that's your top post ever....but go for the black pudding man, its delicious, and that's coming from a really faddy eater !

I could eat that 7 days a week...hmmm, perhaps not at 7.95...maybe 3 days a week and the other 4 in Greggs lol....

I'm going to be screwed when I get back home next month lol

ha! yeah seems pricy but that comes with coffee as well so that's how I validate it in my brain! :) - just not sure i'll be 'into' the black pudding and i don't wanna waste it. hmm, i'll see..

Yess when its a full deal with toast and coffee its reasonable but the black pudding doesn't taste how you might expect, the flavour comes from the fat and it's usually quite crumbly....most of it is rusk..it really isn't simply just solidified blood :-)

bit like sushi ain't all fish. i get that. sure, just my brain has an issue with the 'pudding' for breakfast i think more than a disk of what we assumed was just pure blood - lol.
