If you are a meat fan, this is a fantastic video on choosing quality meats

in #food7 years ago (edited)

I am not a fan of watching food experts talk about food as it's usually so dramatic. Came across this video on Reddit and looked interesting.

Big fan of the expert, never seen him before but he seemed extremely genuine and honest. Fascinating listening to him describes what to look for in a quality product. Some of them were obvious though, I could pick out the better quality before he even started talking but knowing what to look for is really helpful.

I tried to find some other videos by Eli Cairo and unfortunately, this seems to be a one-off video. I'd definitely watch more of him describing how to choose quality meats. Wish he covered Roast Beef or pastrami as those are two types meats that vary dramatically depending on where you get it.

I stopped picking up chicken and most meats from regular grocery stores years ago and will only purchase them from a butcher as there is such a huge difference in quality.

Even if you are not into food/cooking shows it's worth a watch if you are a meat eater.

You are a fantastic piece of meat O.o

I am not sure if I should be scared, aroused, disturbed, or proud.

Quality meats gives great taste. I love meats. Thanks for the video

butcher meat is fresher and higher quality than meat purchased at a supermarket. Rather than being pre-cut, pre-packaged, and laid out until someone decides to purchase it, butcher’s meat is often cut right in front of the customer.

I knew when he got to the prosciutto the price was going to be high but 193 bucks a pound was the most I've ever seen! I'd never even heard of prosciutto before a Rachael Ray show a few years ago, I was going to replica the recipe but didn't know when she said a bit pricey was eight dollars for three thin slices....that'd been the most pricey sandwiches I ever made, you notice I said that would have been..(lol)...cause it didn't materialize. The guys pretty cool though because he keeps a pretty good balance, he realizes what it takes to appeal to a wide range of people. He obviously knows not everyone can afford pricey meats so it's not like he says you never want to buy this type of baloney, it has no elasticity, is full of fillers and probably isn't good for you, which would be a huge turn off for people who couldn't afford the expensive stuff....though healthier or not almonds in baloney doesn't sound to appealing.

Choosing quality meat is very important for our health.
thank you for sharing

I like reading your posts;)

My favorite animal is steak.

I am totally with you, I pretty much only buy our meat at the butcher anymore. We used to live near a meat market that did gift cards, so for Christmas and my Birthday instead of asking for gift cards to like Home Depot and stuff, I would ask for gift cards to the meat market. So much better quality and if you can get friendly with the people behind the counter, they will always take care of you. Great post, thanks for sharing!

I will be so glad when I can start raising my own meat on my homestead. Will still be a while but I will get there.

I am surprised there are so many homesteaders on Steemit. I never even heard about homesteading until I got here and I hear it a lot now.

Many of them came over from YouTube because the way it was going on that platform. I have been on Steemit since May 2017. I post more here than I do on YouTube as I find this a more productive platform to share my adventures of this lifestyle. Hope to show people that are interested my mistakes so they can learn from them and my victories so they can do it if that is something they are intrested in doing.

Knowing how to choose the meat that we will use to prepare our meals, guarantees us a quality dish. I liked your post
I would be pleased to have your support. Thank you.

I'm not too much of a meat lover but I do need me a good butcher I can notice the difference between the local market and sprouts I could only imagine getting from a butcher is a step up
