It's also a hardcore fruit because it tries to digests YOU while you try to digest it.
For real. Have you ever done steak with pineapple? You lay slices of pineapple on top of steak and then beat it with a mallet. (not that necessary) The steak will be the softest you ever have tried.
Why?
Because it has an enzyme that breaks down meat. That sting you get from pure pineapple is where that comes from...
Still, a tasty fruit.
I did not know that! Very cool! No can't say I've ever done that, though have had pineapple with gammon, that also works well as sometimes the gammon can be too salty sometimes. I'm impressed! Will definitely try this! I'm guessing you leave the pineapple on top of the steak whilst it cooks?
Once you punch it up (I think that just allows a lot of pineapple juice to contact the meat), then you leave it in a tray in the fridge to pull in that juice.
If you intend on cooking it in the oven then you could leave the pineapple on for a bit, but it will probably dry out end get hard if left in all the while.
If you intend on braaing the meat then you definitely want to take the pineapple off and throw it away. If you want pineapple in the plate then cut another one.
Awesome! Thanks for the tips!! 👌
My pleasure, let me know how it gos once you do one! Or even better, make a post of it!
