The Japanese should be the model for every person and nation, they have learned to utilize land very well. They are committed to securing their own food and have food culture that values quality and freshness. - @openparadigm

Not to mention the fact that the Japanese are going extinct.

As they became more settled they started their own farms and eventually became prolific producers.

In an industrialized urban setting children are a liability, in an agrarian setting children are an asset. In Japan children are very expensive liabilities, in other places they are free labor. Of course if you don't have enough children who will be there to look after you when you are old?
