It is true that Chlorine is poisonous, but it is also true that it saved thousands of lives.
While it is a bit unhealthy to drink, it can clean even the most undrinkable and toxic waters, and prevents many water-spread illnesses.
Having to filter your tap water is a small price to pay for not dying every time some moron decides to throw a dead cow in the drinking water source. (You will be surprised how often it happens!)
I am thankful for the Chlorine.
Its not so much the chlorine in the water that im worried about (as long as its at an acceptable level), I know that's neccessary in most populated areas or where ground water is unavailable. It's the heavy metals like copper, and lead from old pipes that concerns me. And Its the floride (poisin) that is being dumped into our water supply is what bothers me! I agree, drinking fitered water is an easy fix.. unfortunately getting people to believe the water isn't safe to drink out of the tap just makes me look crazy!
You absolutely right tho, we have a huge health mess and we are waistful as shit in this country! Its disgusting and I hope we can find better ways in the future.. thanks for the great comment!
It is good to know the health advises of the experts, but never forget that you do not live alone in the forest.
You live in a city with (probably) at least a million other people.
I heard a health expert say that people should never eat mass produced food. He was right in his reasons, but he was also a moron, because he failed to understand that if people don't have access to mass produced food, over half of the population will starve to death.
The more people - the more complex it is to find a stable solution out of this health mess.
The craziest part is that most developed countries throw away huge amounts of food and clean water.
The US are one of the leaders in that area.
They throw away tons of fresh fruits and veggies, while people eat at Dunkin Donut.
And the government can't stop it.
It doesn't have that power to stop it, because of the free market... it is a very complex problem.
