The tire foundations are almost complete! After a bit of mortar & prep work, it'll be time to add the ferrocement roof. Funds are short 'round here. Even though most materials seen here are free, I do have to spend about $250 on remesh, lathe, and mortar materials for the roof. Any upvote support will be greatly appreciated!
Roof is going up in 2 weeks.
Nice!
Maybe next time try staggering tyres like bricks. The wall will be MUCH more stable!
Ram on!
Thanks for the support! I usually have them staggered, but where there's doorways/breaks in the wall, I'll do vertical stacks if I don't have materials for a filler section, which they use lathe & cement to fill in the Earthship school. You can see in the back how I used tiny tires and some Trex scraps to continue the wall up to the right side of the arch with no material cost
This is really cool. I bet the insulation is amazing.
Great project.
The earth rammed tires have tons of thermal mass, like big heat batteries. Insulation is another story though
you got it!!!
check out my earthship! ;-)

Oh interesting. I just looked up thermal mass. The ability to store a ton of energy seems like it would be key to being efficient.
That a great piece of knowledge. Thank you.
Si los vendes en Venezuela te haces millonario. hahaha. Gretings.
