Here's my Day 139: 5 Minute Freewrite: Wednesday - Prompt: Artichoke

She held the artichoke up to her mom with a look of disgust. Her blonde hair wiped around in the warm summer breeze and her blue eyes held a mixture of curiosity and repulse for the vegetable she held in her hands. She laughed at her daughter, her distaste for veggies 100% her father’s doing.

“Mom, this thing looks so gross!” She exclaimed, her button nose smudged with mud from her hands as she helped her mom garden. She moved the thing between her fingers holding it closer to her face then pulling away. She sniffed it and wrinkled her nose “Smells like dirt.”

Her mom shook her head smiling, “That’s because it was in the garden sweet heart.” She grins and nudges her daughter with her shoulder, “You don’t know you won’t like it unless you try it.” She says pulling out veggies for the dinner that evening. They were having friends over and she wanted to make something new, different, something she usually doesn’t make – mainly because of her family full of non-veggie eaters.

She shook her head, her blond hair whipping around, “No way. Daddy won’t eat it then I don’t either!” She says throwing it into her mom’s basket.

“Daddy’s an adult, you are a child. What I say you will do you do.” She says still grinning at her strong-minded daughter.

“And what Daddy say’s goes.” The voice from behind them bellows. A bigger smile finds the mom’s face. She looks up and standing over the two of them is the dark hair handsome husband she married, blue eyes sparking in the summer sun. He bends down and kisses her lips.

“Ewwww… That’s grosser than the artichoke! Yuck!” They laughed and her father nudges her with his foot.

Oooh - I can so empathize with this poor Mum! My husband hates veges and it is only under sufferance that I can get them into my son!! I love this - through the eyes of a child (veges 'smell like dirt' before you've had a chance to wash them!)... lol

My husband and step son both hate veggies! Im glad you liked it!!! That was a hard one! :)

You really did a great job with the prompt! I was wondering what would come of it. A great scene as always. Thanks for sharing.

Awe thanks friend! ♡♡ was not easy thats for sure!

Kid better eat their veggies after all that work her mom went through, lol. :)

Hahaha right? You'll eat em and like em!

Awwww... how sweet! I'm so glad that my husband wasn't a picky eater, because that would be a frustrating thing to deal with in raising kids together!

Great story :)

Also, I'm here to deliver today's prompt as well Daily Prompt #140

Hahaha it is tough! Both my husband AND step son are picky eaters! But, luckily, my husband likes cooking. So, when hes not working his 2nd job he'll cook.

Thanks for the prompt!!
