Jack woke up to the gentle caress of his sleeping area’s ceiling fan flicking his nose at full speed. He was barely awake enough to register the impact before he was sent flying into the wall, colliding with a shelf of datapads and devices, which exploded outward from their carefully selected positions yet remained suspended in the air as well as their owner.

“H.A.P., status report!” Jack yelled out, his voice altered as he gripped his nose in agony.

“Habitat Administration Program online-” A synthetic voice spoke over the intercom. “Two notifications; Centrifugal Gravity Generator is offline.”

Jack groaned, pushing himself off the ceiling and pulling himself out of his room.

“What’s the cause?”

“Physical damage. Probable cause; meteorite impact.”

“And why wasn’t I told that?”

“Second notification; Alarm System is offline. Probable cause: meteorite impact.”
