Keeping up the streak today with another freewrite! May or may not keep it up tomorrow as I want to put more focus into my story for the upcoming #pic1000 contest. I'm considering expanding into doing some original written work as well, so keep an eye out!

When I said a few freewrites ago that inspiration comes in bursts, I really meant it. I went into this project with the intention of most of my freewrites leaning toward science fiction or fantasy, but sometimes the prompt just leaves me stumped and I end up simply writing out my thoughts. What better way to spend a slow week?
I remember when all I wanted out of work was ease. Whatever job would offer me solid pay, and all I would have to do is learn a pattern, rinse, collect a check, and repeat. But as I've grown older and hopped from job to job, I've learned that this ease can be both a gift and a curse. Far too many times have I fallen into a routine, an easy one, but one that can make even the seconds drag on. When you know what to expect every hour of your day, finding ways to fill the empty space in your head formed by your conscious mind going on autopilot can be a challenge. Sometimes I'd let my mind wander to fill this appetite for a break in the status quo, only to find it straying far enough to interrupt my duties.
So as I begin to settle into a new place, a new pattern, and a new routine, I can only wonder if it's truly ease and simplicity I seek, or simply a place where the alternative doesn't make me dread punching in.
