The sweet, lingering scent of death

"I suppose it can be considered a little over the edge to go and kill the wife of the witness instead of the witness. This might make him go into rage mode and go to the fucking court with added courage! I might lose a few fingers if that happens so, no, you cannot kill the wife of the witness. Please do the witness instead. Here's the gun." — by @CryptoSharon

And as the assassin left the room, a mild scent of California oranges could be felt from the kitchen, flying into Edgar's nose. His fingers tapped the desk and he smiled. Things were going great today.

In another place, another time, a shot and a scream were heard. The wife looked at the towering murderer right into the eyes. As he opened his mouth, she was paralysed, ready to listen to his instructions. Anything to stay alive!

"Well ma'am, Edgar told me not to kill you. Bye-bye!". He said, turned away and left with a smug little dance.

Two days later, a strange thing was happening in front of the courthouse. A parade of police cars came escorting a black SUV. Today, Edgar would be sentenced to die by a lethal injection, but so would the assassin.

So, I finished the writing but the 5 minutes are still running, writing so that the app doesn't erase my text... Oop! Here it goes!

The separators and the image were placed in there as post-editing... I hope you liked my story (and there's more to come!). I'm going to write a few more using the same app! I'd put them here but I think the rules of the challenge only allow me to post 1 per post per prompt. I'll publish the rest in one compilation post when I finish them.

I'd love to hear your opinion in the comment section! You can also upvote it if you liked it and share it around.

Hey, Sharon! how are you?

I miss you! Visit me when you can. I hope everything is well with you.

XOXO

its amazing how pulled into a story you can get in such a short timespan.
and now i have to go check out this app that forces you to write on a 5 minute timespan!! makes me nervous just thinking about it!

I think the brain is pretty special! When I started writing this one I didn't have any idea about what I was going to write. I just typed the first few words that came into my head and a story came out...

This is not my favourite story, but it's still very special because of this phenomenon. It's solid, round and it has some aesthetics to it.

I'm always glad to have the chance to experience it first-hand. Just grab a clock or something, limit my time and start to write. I always have wonderful results. :3 I think my greatest productivity boosts have come from doing this. I've written dozens of stories like that. (The one I gave you on Discord was one of those, as is Space Rose (it has space travelling!)).

ahhh will have to check it out. you know how much i geek-out over space ;p

What is this?

we're talking about space and space travel, in light of the recent rocket that SpaceX launched into the Mars orbit. it was the biggest rocket in history! and therefore made history!

you finished writing in less than 5 mins! mine is about 3-4 days lol

so many words in the dictionary that it's confusing which one to use. haha!

You are creative and I think it's easier to write you have that talent. Thank you for always Steeming!

Love lots,
Gilaine

:O I don't think I ever take more than a few hours per post!. The longest one I ever made took me 3.5 hours. But this is only on the posts. I shared a painting once that took me 9 hours. It was one of my first posts (The drawing of the "girl who ate the world").

I have some ease with the English language. It's harder to think about what I want to say than how to say it.

Creativity does play a role in all of this. I think it's easier to write when your thoughts fluently walk toward your set goal.

Thank you for Steeming too! :) Your presence in Steemit is one of my greatest joys. You make this community so much better with your collaborations and your continuous participation.

<3 xx I'll try to check your witness promotion in a little while. Thanks for passing by. :)

Wow 2 days is pretty fast turnaround for that kind of punishment, at least in the US. Or maybe not. What a carefree assassin, following the instructions to the letter. Oops :)

Fun story!

It was.... Let me think... Hmmmmmm... Cambodia! No idea if they have lethal injection. :'D

I figured it out! They were being sent into a big big sentence anyway on the same day and the murder was just aggravation. :D

Dark! I'm visiting all the freewriters today with the latest prompt, and so far it's all been sunny in California.

Here's today's for you;

Kill them, kill them all! 😎

Hahahahaha, yeaaaah, no main character shall survive!

Another artistic write Sharon. You've really done quite well in this niche. :)

:) Have I? I'm flattered that you think so. It's hard to evaluate myself properly when I'm the creator.

What would I write if I only had 5 minutes?

Today I'd probably write about marketing, tomorrow.... hmmm...,. maybe the gym... yeah Im not very imaginative, I would write on whatever Id do.

Hehhe
Cheers

well, life is kind of like that in all honesty. and so are our minds. here one minute, there the next. who can keep track anyway? i think an honest way of writing for me is ofter inconsistent, topic-changing, and unpolished. i think thats why i really appreciate steemit. it gives me a platform to think and write and show my process. i publish things here like a test to see how people react. and theres something beautiful about showing process. its part of our imperfections and of course what makes us human.

That could happen to me too. :O I always write about what I choose to write about. I can choose a story and my mind just writes it! I could instead choose an essay or go into diary mode.

Something I enjoy about these challenges is training my mind to be in the mindset I choose and not follow the inertia.

Looks like there might be a bloodbath. Don't worry too much about the rules - hardly anybody does :) We all like to be free to do what we want :)
Welcome to the freewriters.

Yup! Death everywhere!

Hmmm. So, I can just play around the rules? A bit of an artist's license? It sounds interesting, although constraints usually work better for me when they're a little harder. That way I don't go lazy.

However, I've also found that taking constraints as guidelines can boost other kinds of creativity. The human mind is really interesting. :))

Thank you, Marianne, for the warm welcome. I'll make sure to produce good content for all to see <3

Hi Sharon

Great job on the 5-min freewrite. You've set up an intriguing story with a juicy character.

Eon mentioned the most dangerous writing app earlier on. I didn't know what he was talking about. Thanks for the link. I'm gonna play with that later.

Cheers
Anj xx

Hey Anj!! :D

Yeah, I discovered this app on the Freewrite challenge. They suggested we use it if we wanted to strictly constrain our writing to at leas 5 minutes of constant typing. I found it really useful and pressuring.

Thanks for the compliments. :))

Cheers!

HIya Sharon

Yes, it's a brilliant idea. Fun :D

Yeah dark and ballsy freewrite.. more of this stuff in the freewriting community! Welcome! :-D

That's an amazingly scary story in 5 minutes and you used the bloody app! Excellent! Glad you jumped in!

It must have been difficult to write under pressure, but you still make an amazing job. I realli like it.
