RE: 5-minute freewrite Day 793 prompt: stove top

It is weird to think that I am the last generation of relatively young people (GenX/Millenial, right on the cusp) who remembers when things were built to last. Everyone older than me is sad about the fact; everyone younger doesn't understand that the world used to be better than it is. It is kind of sad. BUT, keep on with the ingenuity to make things work as long as they can... there are younger people like me who appreciate knowing what is REALLY going on!

I wouldn't say the world used to be better than it is now, but appliances sure were. I suspect it's a combination of factors, including the need to keep prices down as inflation kills the dollar and the economy stagnates.
