Something needed to be changed, but not in this way. It sat wrong with what she was taught, it felt wrong on a very basic level, but it was what her superiors told her, and a low ranking officer just could say no, especially when her family’s livelihood depended on this job of hers.
But right now, as with every scribbled note she made, with every snide remark of General Julius and the Empire’s plan for “Global Domination”, she felt herself sickened. The man, stronger that his years let others see, and more ruthless than his calm expression delivered, looked at her.
Maybe he read her thoughts?, no, he was no mage, but then what?. He got closer, and with blue eyes as piercing as the sharpest spears, he scanned her whole body.
