Made of varnished pine wood, this coffee table is about 4 feet long, 2 feet wide and just over 1 feet tall. It is my favourite piece of furniture in the living room. Why? Because it has two drawers that open towards the couch and they are used as a storage for board games, such as Monopoly, 5 Second Game, Chess, Rummyking, Risk, Dominos and Scrabble, as well as food like packets of chips, nuts, biscuits, crackers, chocolates, Pringles, or anything that I fancy eating at any given time.
Furthermore, the coffee table is positioned directly in front of the TV, so when my husband and I don't feel like eating lunch or dinner in the dining room, and we want to watch TV whilst eating, then we bring our food to the living room, sit on the sofa and enjoy our meal. That's why, there are two placemats on top of the coffee table, as you can see in the photo above. We never put them away, or we just hide them inside the drawer only if we feel like it.
And since those placemats are placed near the edge of the table facing the couch, the table runner is placed on the surface of the table, not at the centre but on the other end instead. On top of the table runner is a remote control holder made of wood. Next to it is a box of tissue, and at the right side of the coffee table, there is a little stainless bin for our rubbish. And, of course, there are coasters on the table as well to protect the wood from dripping liquid and condensation caused by either hot or cold drinks. We don't want to damage the wood because of our carelessness.
You might also notice that there is a spray bottle on top of the coffee table. Well, it's there when we need to use it to threaten the cats with a spray bottle when they scratch the leather recliner sofa, when there is a perfect scratch post next to the coffee table for them to use. They know what it means when the spray bottle is aimed at them. They better be careful, or else, they will be sprayed with water, and they don't like it. But when they're good and behaving well, there is a packet of cat treats, which I put next to the remote controls, so it's handy when I have to give them treats.
So there you have it, I think I have described my favourite furniture thoroughly. Now I can rest my feet on the coffee table and lean back on the couch, then I will finish formatting this post and submit this entry to @mariannewest's 5-minute #freewrite challenge, which I found on this link: Day 921: 5 Minute Freewrite: Tuesday - Prompt: describe your table
