Mrs Cherry took the mug of tea off me, and eyed it suspiciously.
"I prefer it made in a pot," she said. She took a sip and almost dropped it. "It's hot!" she cried.
"Of course it's hot!" I shouted back, fed up of the mad old bat. "You just watched me make the bloody thing!"
She put the mug down on the kitchen table with a bang.
"No need for language like that!" she said. I was about to reply when the door bell rang again.
"Katie!" I said, hopefully.
"Who?" Mrs Cherry said. "I hope you haven't invited any more ne'er do wells!"
I ignored her and ran to the door (nimbly leaping over the trip wire). I opened the door, and standing on the door step was a giant caterpillar.
Well, on closer inspection it appeared to be Katie. Dressed in what looked suspiciously like a caterpillar pajama onesie.
"Simon," she said. "What are you gawping at? Let me in, for fucks sake!"
I have a caterpillar onesie, but when I wear it I look more like a manatee!
You are a very funny guy! :)

There's a really fun-in-a-comical-way aura around this one! I actually chuckled a few times from the very beggining.
Great freewrite :)

I love the "no need for language like that" and then the last sentence. Perfection!
Also, is 'bloody' really a bad word, profanity wise? I always thought it more socially acceptable, like maybe using 'crap' instead of 'shit'.
Bloody is pretty acceptable now (even used on the radio) in UK. But some older people would consider it bad. My mum never swore. Once, when I was an adolescent, we got into a massive row and she said "bloody" then (in full flow of ranting) followed on immediately with "excuse my french", before carrying on shouting at me! I was not allowed to say the word "crap" in front of my mum. Probably why I swear so fucking much now! ;)

The felt caterpillar has me clicking repeatedly at this gif (and your expression lol). As a young girl I jad a pair of green one piece pjs. They were ugly, I admit, but warm in Pennsylvania winter. Id never leave the house that way! Love the story and would like to see Mrs. Cherry be nice, or not so darn ornery.
It is the word "onsie" that grates on me. It's like grown ups using the word "sleeps" or "chrimbo" or "holibobs". Sends shivers up my spine. I am turning into a cantankerous old man!
Also - I get that it is toasty for the winter. BUT (getting weighed down in the practicalities) when you need to go to the toilet do you not have to take the whole thing off? So therefore less toasty!

A shit shoot if you will...
Vile!
;)
Haha! For sure!
Great shot of you and Katie :) Love that she's in a caterpillar onesie--sounds really cuddly.
When you going to get rid of Mrs. Cherry? Man, that woman is enough to drive anyone nuts!
I personnally HATE onsies! Never been in one, and I get that they are cuddly, and probably great for children. But for adults??!!! The name is dreadful too. It sounds so childish, no self respecting adult should even say the word! ;) I saw a young person (adolescent, possibly as young as 14 but could have been 18) in the street in one of our local towns the other day. She was wearing a giraffe onsie! It was 9pm at night, all the other kids were dressed normally. Weird!
Not sure what's going to happen with Mrs Cherry. Need to find out what has happened to J too. At some point we'll need to find out what the thump was up stairs... :)
Anyhoo...
