Her whole body was tingling that was the first awareness. She wiggled her toes and fingers. Slowly blinked a few times taking in the new surroundings. The last thing she remembered was smoke stinging eyes and burning lungs. The city burning around her as the people fled.
Yes it had all been very real the aroma from singed clothing filled the air.
The bag! She quickly felt for it finding it safely still hanging over her shoulder she relaxed a bit, relieved.
People were everywhere looking confused. Overheard exclamations from the crowd indicating many were wondering how they had arrived in this place.
She was able to weave between the chattering groups toward a large oval shaped window.
The smoke still billowed making it hard to catch a view of the burning city far below.
Just before her world had began to swirl into dreamlike jumbled memory she had been doing something down there.
Oh yes she had been adding to her collection bag.Sliding one hand into the bag she felt the square leather case.
The small kit was still there. Now to find a secluded corner where she could open it up unnoticed.

That was a pretty good five minutes. I can see her scuttling off to a secluded corner to look in her bag, make sure everything is still there.

Yeah, isn't it interesting that we can start a story, and have absolutely no clue where it is taking us. I think that is why I am trying to learn to write better, because all the little tidbits of stories do have a tendency to connect, and the directions at times are very hard to see where they want to take a character, or a surprise character shows up out of the blue. It's fun stretching out to find them.
It really is. Are you doing any of the monster card stories. I try to follow along with those but is hard to keep up sometimes.
Right now, no monster stories, doing a lot of pictures, and I just did a story for steemusa last week, and one for a contest today. I might try the steemusa thursday one again. Just kind of floating around and still trying different things out and trying to help where I can. steemusa was quiet for a few months, they seem to be trying to get account activity going again, so I dropped in on their story contest last week, the photo one this monday, and will try to show a little support over the next few weeks. I ran into @calluna through a writing contest, her story was pretty good and she won, so I am trying to show a little support for a contest she herself is holding. But yeah, it can get very hard trying to keep up and track of so so many people, miss a day or two, and your like, (well I am), way behind the power curve of what has been going on.
I will be over to read your story for sure. I am judging pay it forward this week and trying to get out three posts. So yeah I can relate.
I am still floating around a lot too. Looking at a lot of fiction lately.
