When I see this prompt by @mariannewest, I only think of the evaporated milk with the brand Carnation. We use that alot in our sweet dessert bowl drink like "ABC".
One thing awesome about freewriting organised by @mariannewest is that it frees you from pressurising yourself whether your writing is good or not. It has been awhile since the last I wrote story or fiction so story is not naturally flowing out at the moment.
I guess I will just type whatever passes by my thoughts.
When I was young, often at my grandmother's house who practised Buddhism, she would place few petals of carnations into a vase and put it at the altar, together with some pink buns and oranges. I always wondered was there meanings to carnation?
Later on in life when we as a family needed to visit my grandparents grave, we would bring flowers - mainly carnations, pink and red one. Occasionally white ones, and sometimes chrysanthemum.
What I know is that flowers brought to the grave is in honor of the deceased, sort of like in remembrance of him or her. Since I do not pray by using incense, I really love to bring flowers and put it there into a ready-made vase at the graveyard. It reminds me that my life is like a flower too. Bloom and then wither, return to the ground or blow away by the wind.
Therefore, I always treasure my own life and everyone's life.
