This blog is long overdue mainly because I supposed to write about it right before Hardfork20. There went my delay and then when I wanted to write, Hardfork was happening, followed by me taking break from Steemit while also still lurking around, just to make sure Steemit is alright. Lol.
Let's go straight to the point. We had a fun K.I.S.S. keep it short and simple celebration for Mid-autumn Festival aka Mooncake Festival just for the children on the 24th September. We just love to come together and let the children had some blast night with lots of running and laughter *(and sticky stinky sweat!).
What is Mid-autumn Festival, you may ask?
(Whispering).... Don't tell anyone because it is a shame that I am not so sure except it has something to do with mooncakes and lanterns. And moon. And oh, the Moon God. I am a Chinese and this festival is celebrated by Chinese people yet I do not quite know the origin or the authentic meaning of festival.
What I know is, we can come together for mooncakes and lanterns. And watching the round moon together. Come together and laugh. And alot of eating.
I used to think why we celebrate it since in my country we only have one season - warm and humid throughout the year - and why are we celebrating Mid-Autumn? I mean we don't have summer, autumn, winter and spring here.
So I Wiki-ed about it and found out that it is a harvest festival to celebrate the end of autumn harvest. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with full moon at night.
There will be gatherings of family and friends to harvest the crop, to come together for thanksgiving as well as praying for spouse, babies, beauty, good future and longevity. Also, it has to do with moon worship, and you can read all the interesting ancient Chinese stories from Wikipedia titled "Mid-autumn Festival". I giggled when I read especially the part on moon and Sun are couple, the stars are their children. And when the moon is pregnant, it becomes round which explains the full-moon, later on it becomes crescent after giving birth. Giggled.
Alright, I feel more like a Chinese now and a Chinese who actually knows her culture. Lol.
Come Together
So we come together that night. For the children to have some lantern-time. @happycrazycon initiated it to be at my place and I was glad to say 'ok'.
T'was a super duper fun night. For Jansen who rarely got to mingle around, he kept saying this again and again, "I love playing with the children." I told him there will be many come-together in the future. We forgot about eating mooncakes together, so each family went home and eat their own mooncakes at home. Lol. The round mooncake signifies coming together in unity. Don't forget the round moon means it is pregnant. Just trying to be funny.
Thank you for reading.
