Writing for today's 5-minute #freewrite prompt hosted by @mariannewest
Prompt: Paint
“Papa, the school said you need to be there for our closing program,” little Ellie said.
“Aye, sweetheart,” he answered without looking at her.
“And teacher said I have to wear nice clothes and black shoes,” she now tugs at his shirt to get his attention.
That made him pause. He puts the paintbrush down and looks at her - Ellie's brows are knitted together as if to say, “What are we going to do Papa?” He smiles, she's such a little worrier.
If he could finish the painting before the school program he could have enough money to buy Ellie a new dress and a pair of black shoes. The 50% advance commission he requested he already spent on groceries and a new easel. He looks at his work and his heart breaks a little for he knows he wouldn’t finish it on time.
“Tell you what, sweetheart... get your old brown shoes, Papa has got black paint to spare,” he said with a grin.
That made Ellie grin, too.

Yes!! Where there is a will ... there is a way for sure. Great solution!!!
Indeed. Sometimes a little paint job is all you need. :)
