Every Thursday I went down to the local market by the old pizza place.
It was in a Mexican neighborhood and all the stores had signs in Spanish only.
The reason I came down here all the time is because I love elote.

You stand in front of the metal cart with it's giant blue umbrella looming.
"Un elote por favor"
You have to give them the cash up front.
In the background you can hear music playing. It is very festive and happy.
The lady has very long black hair and long eyelashes that frame her face.
Her eyelids are painted an unusual shade of red.
Grabbing a pair of tongs she opens the lid of a very large pot and pulls out the largest ear of corn ever seen.
I have no idea where they get these ears of corn but they seem to be about 18 inches long.
"Sin mayonesa"
I don't know why anyone puts mayonnaise on their elote because I think that's pretty gross.
The lady grabs a very large white styrofoam cup and places it on the counter.
She grabs a large butcher knife and uses it to cut the corn off the ear and into the cup.
She pours hot butter into the cup and mixes it around.
She sprinkles several different seasonings.
I like my elote to be very spicy.
Sticking a plastic spoon in the cup...... she hands it to me with a smile.
There's nothing that tastes fresher and more delicious than a nice cup of elote from your local Neighborhood Market.
