When I was a kid we listened to records on record players..
Just like everyone has a CD player today back then everyone had a record player.
There were two types of records. You had these small ones which were called 45s, and also big ones which were called 78s.
45s were for playing singles and 78s were for playing albums.

On most record players, in order to play the 45s, you had to use a special adapter which was a yellow piece of plastic that fit around the center of your player..
That's because the 78s would slip right over at the metal knob and play because they had a tiny hole in the middle. The 45s had a big hole that meant you had to use the plastic adapter so that they would fit.
In between record players and CDs we had cassettes.
Cassettes don't sound very good. They sound good enough to listen to in the car though, and they sound good enough to listen to in a little Walkman while you walk around. However, they don't have the same clarity of either record or CD.
I know most people think that a CD sounds better than a record but that's not true.
In time a record will wear down and sound worse than a CD, but for at least the first few plays of a record it sounds much better than a CD does.
A CD has a consistent sound that lasts for a long time whereas a record is actually wearing down each time you play it.
Of course, now we have digital music. It is more than MP3s these days......but also streaming audio.
The musical world is constantly changing also.
When people think of records these days they're probably thinking of really old types of music, but we had Wu-Tang records, rap records, rock records, and every type of record that you can think of.
I have fond memories of having a large record collection. I really loved having a large record collection.
That's one thing that sucks about digital audio. You can have a giant MP3 collection on your computer. It's possible that you paid for each one of those MP3s. However, it's not going to be nearly as cool as your giant vinyl record collection.
Even your CD collection doesn't compare to your giant vinyl record collection.
You see, record cases had a lot of space on them for pictures and Designs. Most of the records that I had were like little posters.
They were full of awesome artwork.
CDs and digital music certainly have their place, but nothing can really beat records in my opinion. I miss the old times and I miss listening to records on my record player.
I have never actually heard a record play but from all that I have heard they must be awesome!
They definitely are.
Yeah, nothing beats records. I like them for the art too. Every once in a while I'll go through a phase where I start hunting for old records in all the second-hand shops, or some artist I like will produce one and I'll buy it. The art is always wonderful and totally makes it worth it. Not to mention that it sounds the best. There's something so tangible and nostalgic about records that nothing since has been able to beat.
I agree. Records are amazing and it's a shame that they've been replaced now by this digital music that we can't touch or hold.
I still have my Fisher Price record player from childhood. All my records were kid songs except for the Oak Ridge Boys Elvira. I remember listening to Disney's Pete's Dragon while reading along with a storybook that went with the record. I still have a paper record of Alf from Burger King that came with an Alf puppet back when fast food places gave out cool toys. Have you seen that some Walmarts are now selling records again? Apparently, they are becoming trendy again. I first notice last year when my favorite geek started selling records.
Oh I forgot about that song. I'm going to see if I can find it on YouTube right now.
"My heart is on fire." Good stuff.
Man I remember the paper records too.
Well it doesn't surprise me that records might make a comeback. Records were freaking awesome. I still love records.
So creative@jeezzle
Thank you.
I've recently stepped up with my record collection, scouring shops and garage sales for the treasure ones I want. Recently found the Beatles Abbey Road in an antique store!
Records for me are about more than the music, which is quality, its about the cover art and the fact you can hold it in your hand! I currently have my favourites on display (pic below)!, just need to find some more 90's rock to add to it
Great reply. I used to have the Beatles Abbey Road too. It was a great album with some really good cover art. I don't actually have any records anymore because I don't have a record player anymore either. I might consider investing one soon though. I really love records.
this your post is very creative.
