The initiate was shoved roughly to the floor in front of the offering.
The others huddled around, cowls drawn up, faces obscured, flickering candles turned their shadows into wraiths dancing on the walls.
Her hands were bound, but she tried to at least push herself up into a seated position. Hands pushed her back down.
"The summoned will not move!" An ominous voice threatened.
She stopped struggling, but looked up towards the sound of the voice.
"The summoned will avert her eyes respectfully!" A new voice cautioned.
She heeded the words and returned her gaze to the floor.
A crusty wooden bowl was placed in front of her.
"If the summoned wishes to continue on the path, then prepare the offering!"
She looked around, confused as to what to do with the bowl.
One of the hooded figures coughed, drawing her attention to a vase and altar. She picked up the bowl and started to stand.
"The summoned will crawl humbly forth!" Another voice threatened.
She carried the bowl in one hand and managed to crawl towards the altar.
There was a vase filled with some crimson fluid. She put the bowl on the altar and picked up the vase.
The acidic smell of citrus mixed and cherry koolaide filled her nostrils.
Ugh she groaned inwardly. She hoped they didn't want her to drink this. If they did she vowed to pledge somewhere else.

Ewww koolaid. I'm out.
I might drink the red but not orange or grren.
Maybe they would allow something else to be mixed in with the koolaide? Kudos to her for not laughing at their "ominous voices"!
Due to technical difficulties involving a widget, an egg beater, and some clever hamsters, your regularly scheduled prompt provider has been replaced by a wandering pelican.
