What I remember about sweet waffles is our family reunion. We don't get to family reunion much just now due to COVID-19. We are going into our second year. But prior to that we would book a hotel for three days in summer and my family members from across the USA would converge on that spot.
We always got the free breakfast and we would be able to make waffles. It's one of the only warm foods that you can make yourself in a hotel so I think that is why we all loved it. Of course mine had to be sweet.

But what was most interesting is the fact that everyone enjoyed their waffles differently. Those who loved fruits got strawberry or banana. Others would get cereal or honey or both. Done would get butter or some other spread. If course the waffles came with laughter and conversation. We would be wearing family reunion shirts and be talking.
