Jayda resisted the urge to wipe her sweaty palms on the skirt of her cocktail dress. When her husband had first mentioned they would be dining with his new investors, she had been excited. Reservations had been made at one of the most exclusive restaurants in town and she had been eager to sample the new chef's fusion-style cuisine. After seeing her entrée, however, she simply wanted to go home.
"Try a bit," urged James, smiling. Of the three new investors, James was the most important. "Tell me what you think."
With every ounce of elegance and grace that she could muster, she scooped up a small portion of the entrée and sampled it. She smiled radiantly and praised the chef's skills, even taking a second bite, before urging the others to likewise enjoy their meals.
Jayda kept her expression pleasant as she took each bite, but internally she was struggling not to cough it all back up. Corn. Of all the entrées their investors could have chosen, why did it have to be one featuring corn. The one food she loathed.
"Ah, here comes our main course," said James suddenly, eagerly pushing his plate aside. "You'll just love it. And I've ordered some of the chef's famous creamed corn as a side."

Thank you!
Somehow the story made me smile. I thought I have been into that situation as well, but gladly not with corn. Lol.
I've been in a situation like this so many times in the past couple of years, but for me it's a food allergy. I can't just smile and eat it anyway, so I always feel bad.
