His words stung deeply, like an emotional slap to the face. And they reminded her of how she felt when her father yelled at her as a child. His insults pierced her soul like a knife.
No one had every implied she was tasteless or sexually provocative. This man was a liar. When his friends laughed at her, her heart ached even more. His words were filled with deceit, but the culture and tradition of her people would not allow her to speak out. Her father and brothers would react strongly if she did so. She could not afford the risk of more pain.
She did not have a place to stand up and defend herself. She was strong and full of life, but she felt helpless. His reckless insults were hurled with such ease. Oh, how they hurt! She walked away ashamed, even though she had done nothing wrong. She felt alone.

tart.@dexterdumb - I appreciate your honesty. This was my first attempt to join one of @mariannewest's #freewrite prompts. The word prompt was
Even though I never used the word in my post, I implied that a crude man called the main character a tart, which is a derogatory way to say that a woman is sexually provocative. In her culture, she would be shamed if she had acted that way. And even though she had not acted that way, she felt shame for the way the man publicly put her down.

I used to think that where I lived was safe, until one day a man takes me by the hair and tries to take me by force. The fear that invades every fiber of the body is indescribable. As well as infinite ways of reacting. Fortunately I managed to escape from such a situation.
I cannot imagine what you went through. I am grateful that you escaped, and my hope for you is that you will find healing and that his man will receive justice.
