Outlet For Creativity - Short Story for Daily Prompt

in #freewrite3 months ago

Frank stared at the hole, his apprehension building. It had been ten years since he first heard the rumor. A small hole in the side of a mountain. An "outlet" that would grant creativity if you just stuck your hand in.

It had seemed silly, so he dismissed it at first. But rejection after rejection from publishers, movie producers, and even magazines made him desperate. Then he started researching.

Now, he'd found it. He stared at the hole. He'd spent years searching; hiking through long forgotten forests and climbing mountains. Finally, he had made it. He was there. All he had to do was stick his hand in.

He stared at the hole. It was just a hole in the side of a mountain. Grey rock, dark inside, and smooth. It didn't look special at all, let alone dangerous.

"So why am I terrified," Frank murmured to himself.
