Brior’ador stepped out onto the cold dungeon floor. The dusty stone bricks looked ancient, much before his time. The dim light of the torches along the hall was barely enough to see by, much less to track by. Luckily, Brior’ador, or Ri, as he went by, had gotten a quest to slay a pesky ooze that ate chickens. Ri didn’t really understand how it ate, and he didn’t really want to know. But it was a quest, and he was getting paid pretty richly, so he’d do whatever it took.
Ri touched his hand against the dusty floor. He jerked his hand back quickly, though he’d expected it. The floor was, in fact, not dusty, but slimy. It was fresh too, so it had to be near by. He stood back up and walked boldly down the hall and around an unseen bend.
More hall. There was tapestries this time. Without realizing that the slime got thicker, Ri walked up to one. In faded script, it read, “149”. He couldn’t believe he’d reached this deep in only a few months. His father, Briar’oder, would’ve been proud. With a pull in his gut, he realized this level in the dungeon was were his father was last seen going, never to be seen again. He had hoped to-
Something hit him in the small of his back, throwing him onto the tapestry, then of course hit the wall. Pain spiked through his body like arrows as he fell to the ground. His head stuck to the slime on the ground, a very gross suction. But worse of all, was the fact that he was stuck to the ground looking at an enormous, legendary Topaz Gel.
