Laptop or PC gamer Which is better?

in #gaming5 years ago

In recent years many PC gaming users have been debating which of the two systems is better, whether a desktop computer or a laptop, leaving many topics of conversation in different forums and social networks on the Internet. This makes us ask a very complex question that, in order to answer it, we must move to the past.

Formerly computers were seen as work tools, although they could play certain video games most people wanted an office computer to perform different tasks, replacing the typewriter that was gradually disappearing from the market.

As time went by people wanted these desktops to be portable in a certain way, so the English designer Bill Moggridge came up with the brilliant idea of creating this device, his name was GRiD Compass 101 and was a revolution in 1982 but with a high price of $8,150, this caused it to be inaccessible to many people.

As technology advanced, the design of these portable computers would change, many companies would choose to make their designs and lower costs to make them more accessible, however, these computers had their limitations compared to desktop computers which were still cheaper.

But something would happen in the 90s, a company would lay the foundation of the laptops as we know them today, it is Apple and its Mac PowerBook, showing a high-end design and accessibility, but its price was between 2,000 to 4,600 dollars, also compared to the desktop PC could not run video games at the same capacity.

Thanks to that design many companies would be motivated to launch their own laptops, in the mid 90's there were laptops powerful enough to move different video games, but despite this the desktop computers surpassed them, making the laptops were seen for business use.

Time would change this vision, new processors and storage methods with more speed would come to market, gradually changing the concept that people had of laptops, had only one drawback, the graphic acceleration, a feature that in early 2000 desktop computers were at their peak.

It is here when the developers of GPU ATI (now AMD) and NVIDIA would begin to design Chips exclusive graphics accelerators for laptops, despite being very good suffered from overheating, this caused that over time the laptop became completely unusable.

The technology would make theirs again, making a total renovation of the graphics processors, this resulted in a new generation in both desktop computers and laptops, and began to see laptops dedicated to gaming use because the graphics processors consumed less energy, its temperature was low and this helped extend the life of it.

At that time both desktop computers and laptops were fully optimized for gaming use, leaving only to the decision of the user which option to choose, if you wanted a drinking equipment to move it quietly and play anywhere a laptop gaming is the best option.

If on the other hand you are a person who only uses one place in your home to play, but is also an enthusiast of hardware upgrades a desktop computer is the option to choose. Both computers are very good to play today, but everything will depend on your needs and tastes.

What do you consider best for you, a Laptop or a gamer PC? Tell me your opinion in the comments section.

Both Laptop and PC have their advantages and disadvantages.

A laptop has portability, and an all-in-one setup is always convenient. But it's hindered by the inability to upgrade its parts easily. There are ways to get around this nowadays, like with an external PCI-e adapter allowing you to plug in a desktop video card. But the more peripherals you use, the clunkier your setup becomes. Another thing to keep in mind is battery usage.

A PC allows you to upgrade any part you want (which is especially handy, if a RAM stick dies for instance), and building one lets you know exactly what is going inside it, but as you said it isn't portable. They can also run rather large, and there will be a LOT of cable management to do.

You should get what works best for you ^^ Both are perfectly valid and capable systems for gaming. As long as you enjoy games, and have the ability to play them, what you play on shouldn't matter.
