I agree the best gardening is at harmony and enriching to the natural environment. I imagine the pruning was done to limit the growth of blackberries; they can take over an eco-system if not kept at bay, but it also sounds as though it was done in haste.
That onion flower must have had some fine tasting nectar. Odd that such a pungent plant can still produce what is sweet to a bee. He will probably be there until he dries off again. I am not sure how well a bumble flies wet. They are such an amazing insects. I am very thankful for their clumsy flight:)
