RE: The Farce of Gender Pronouns — No Respect for Anything that Undermines Freedom of Speech

in #gender7 years ago

Based upon my observations, there is madness on both sides. Endless madness, to the point that the debate itself is incredibly tiresome and boring.

But let's talk about your side, @kyriacos.

I don't like laws. I'm an anarchist, and I want free speech. You do too, I'm sure. So if you're free to speak, what do you call the dude in girl-clothes who wants to be called she?

They haven't done anything of note. They're just a random nobody, maybe a co-worker, maybe wait-staff at a restaurant, or any other boring, generic person, but you've gotta deal with them for five minutes or whatever, and you end up having to say a pronoun at least once.

And remember this is anarchist-world, where you are free to speak whatever words you want, and defend yourself if someone tries to coerce you. This person is doing neither. They're just getting you a drink, or filing paperwork or something boring.

So what words do you use?

Do you call this dude in girl-clothes a he? Or a she, knowing that they would like to be called "she?" That much is obvious.

This is your call here. No one else can speak for you or tell you what to say. This person is not on any side; they're neither friend no foe. Just a random person in the world.

What's your pronoun for them?

Sort:

I will actually use everything but the one they like just to piss them off.

This person now views you as hostile, and an unfriendly person.

They don't care about serving your drinks, nor do they have any interest in filing paperwork or serving you food with any sort of skill or interest. They don't spit in your drink or anything.

They just view you as another obstacle in their life, someone who makes life slightly harder for no good reason. They feel somewhat bad, but go about their life, only now you don't get friendliness from them. This is just a random person. Not some SJW or whatever.

Just a random person who you'd purposefully make feel bad. What for?

If they're your co-worker, they will never say anything good about you to your boss. If you need help with anything, they will never choose to help you.

If you ever need a favor, they will never bother to assist.

They view you as an enemy, because you need to bring up some political drama to their face, and create unnecessary hostility.

For me, a bystander, I take note of the idea that people who do speak their mind only do so to say mean, petty things to people, while people who actually have things to say always feel censored, be it by society, religions, or government.

You've now created a rift between this dude-in-a-dress, as well as me. But why?

You've made enemies for no good reason. Instead of using words that would help the world become more peaceful, you've added kindling to an existing political drama. It is like saying, "Instead of calling black people black people, I will call them the one word that will piss them off."

Even if you can't be censored, why would you choose to make enemies?
