This Republic
Disregard of a politically unstable country that has no political or economic weight among the world's nations. Its economy depends on a few products, such as bananas, and is governed by a rich and corrupt small group. [1] [2] [3] This term is often used in a derogatory manner to describe certain governments of some countries in Central America and the Caribbean, but to refer to the States of South America, Asia and Africa.

The term was initially coined by the American writer. Henry to refer to Honduras in Cabbage and Kings (1904, a collection of short stories in Central America) to call on the dictatorships that allow the construction of large agricultural colonies on its territory in return for financial returns. The modern use of the term has been described as an unstable or dictatorial regime, especially when elections are rigged or corrupt, and its leader is a servant of external interests.
