When I was a kid parents actually raised their children, In today's world it is the grandparents raising their grandchildren. Why? There are several reasons why the grandparents are raising their grandchildren :
1.Drug addiction
2. The parents claim they can't afford it
3. They just walk away from the responsibility
The grandparents give up their life to raise these babies because who else will ? the state ? I couldn't and would never let any of my grandchildren go to the state for someone else to raise, one of my grandchildren was actually in foster care for a year, not all foster parents are good. My granddaughter came back to her daddy with a bad case of head lice and her head is so messed up , she doesn't know if she's coming or going. Now shes in therapy to try to teach her how to be a 7 year old instead of a grown adult. She knows more than a 7 year old should and it is heartbreaking. These parents don't understand what they are doing to these babies. I got custody of my grandson when he was 7 months old and now he's almost 5, we don't have a clue who his father is other then he lives in Michigan and his mother just left , she never came back. if his mother would walk in the door he wouldn't know her at all , We show him pictures of her, but in the long run who is the one that is gonna be hurt when he gets older ? WIll he hate her for giving him up ? So many unanswered questions we may never know the answers to. So my advice to us grandparents , hold on tight to those babies we are all they have.
