Gridcoin Community Hangout #047
Want to suggest a topic to discuss?
Reply with your suggestions in this Steemit post & order of discussion will be from highest to lowest upvotes.
Can we discuss anything?
It's advisable to stay generally on topic, attendees are distributed around the world so they may not (likely won't) share the same views regarding controversial topics not related to Gridcoin/BOINC/computers/cryptocurrency.
What is Gridcoin?
Gridcoin securely rewards BOINC computation on top of Proof of Stake. Reward allocation is distributed, not centralized unlike other distributed computing related cryptocurrencies.
Where can I listen to the raw live stream?
Where can I listen to edited versions of the hangouts?

Why are we holding these hangouts?
- A mumble conference call can provide significant advantages over communicating via text.
- To create opportunities to inform the public of new Gridcoin, BOINC, and related services & their development progress.
- To bridge relations between the cryptocurrency & BOINC communities, and our users.
- To be transparent in our actions.
How long will the hangout last?
Anywhere from 45 minutes to 5 hours!

Thanks for posting, can't guarentee that I will be there but would be good to have people read the proposal, have a look at the example spreadsheet (which includes the required project xml scraper) and discuss.
The proposal has already undergone several revisions after feedback. The main remaining gap in the proposal is how we validate an unlisted project can absorb a step change in load without positive communication with a project admin. After feedback I have minimised any need for positive action by a project admin and we shouldn't be reliant on the admins for our project listings.
The proposal ensures a project is stable before whitelisting and will greylist any project we destabilise by whitelisting, however there is no automated way I have found to work out whether a project can handle the load in advance.
Note: Sourcefinder would not have been whitelisted under this proposal as it was not fully stable before they were Whitelisted.
To implement the proposal would need the following:
User problem survey ends soon. Time to talk about it? I will let you know if I manage to make analysis in time.
Here it is Gridcoin Issues as seen by Users (Results of Survey)
Why Gridcoin Whitelisting Must Go and related work Whitelist/Greylist Proposal v0.4
I would like @nateonthenet and respective authors to talk about it if possibe.
Maybe I will edit this post.

How do temper the inevitable hype that is on the way. Should we actively seek to temper the hype? People tend to see Gridcoin as a community that focuses more on science than on money, though it still recognizes the money aspect of crypto. As people begin to make money from steemit posts, and as more people begin to enter the community from the rise in price across the crypto-board, how do we want to approach them?
