I'm really excited to announce I got off my procrastinating ass, and got my hands real nice and dirty today. I'm so satisfied right now as I type this, sore in all the right places (the gardening places!) and completely beat after Kiedis and I planted food all over the front yard. It haz begun...
My bestest helper @kiedisbowes planting sunflower seeds. We're going to have a tonne of them this year, I will grow beans up the stalks since I seem to have better luck with sunflowers than corn for the "Three Sisters".
Edgar, supervising like a boss.
Seedy Porn!
Can you tell I save my own? All those brown bags are full of last year's seeds LOL. Today we planted sunflowers, poppies, sage, sugar peas, radish, a variety of lettuces, and cosmos.
Did you see the gardening gloves in the seedy porn photo? It's so weird, I totally wanted to wear them, and then when I went to go plant I couldn't find them anywhere! I still haven't found those friggin things. I do not do well with gloves...in the winter or the spring!
The poor girls are in the run now...we'll be put up some more swings for them, and of course buy lots and lots of straw so that they can be in scratching chicken swinger heaven all summer long.
All of the dead tomato and cucumber plants were still in the beds, I ripped it all out.
Some Plants Are Growing Without My Help
Oregano
Chives
Strawberry I've got them all over the place now because I planted their runners for the last 3 years. All of our strawberries come from just 3 plants that we bought when we first moved here.
I'm pretty sure those are hollyhock seedlings carpeting that area. That's where they were all falling anyways, so it would make sense. I just didn't know they could seed themselves this easily in such poor soil right there in the aisle, it's practically sand!
Nice post. i cant have chickens due to being allergic to feathers lol But im all for gardening and growing as much as i can, been following you awhile. consider checkin out my blog and following me back a, mines all about gardening and landscaping, have a good one
Those are some incredible chicken facts!! I know my girls were very very busy all spring in there fertilizing and eating grubs, good to know they are helping our apple trees too, we have 11 of them.
Come by any time Don, you will find the pet cemetery out back!
I really need to try and post some healthy garden posts sometime. But I just haven't been feeling the blog blogging lately. I do have a bit of garden going already, and need to get more work done to get it up to full size before the end of Spring.
Hmmmm..... hmmmmm..... lots to do! I love your excitement @em3
HAHA I am destined to have battered and dirty hands, but hey, I have read that it's really good for us to get soil into our skin, so I think it was divine intervention.... <3 <3
You got it Pennsif, I didn't wear them once last year hahaha, my hands are atrocious by the end of summer hahahha, but mmmmmm....natural antibiotics and stress relievers!!!
Takes me back to my childhood too. I used to love playing in the dirt, and building damns in the nearby stream. I was always a good test for my mum's washing machine.
Oooooooh! Gardening Love! And, so much seed porn!! Oooh my! The chickers being eyed up by Sly Edgar Kitty! 🤣 This is getting my day off to a great start!!! Much Love! Thank-you for sharing your baby plant life Lyndsay...it's all looking SO good 🌱❤🙌 Have a wonderful day!
And now my day is starting off so wonderful with your great vibes that you sent me!!! <3 <3 <3 Big Love Jill!! <3 <3 Always so nice to see you here, really makes this place feel like home!
It blows me away that i came here knowing you! Period. No one else. And, the connection I feel to the many people i interact with is really amazing! It totally feels very homey! But, no chance i could have got up and going without you. None! And, we have never met in real life! I have wondered, do you know Billie Jones in real life? I have known that girl a long long time. We had lots of bonding time at the gym years ago. As far as the teeth go. I am still on meds for this week. And, am meeting another dentist closer to home. Hoping to get a clear treatment plan. Luckily the obscene pain was only a few days. Through that, i found coffee was triggering the pain so i have stopped drinking it a week tomorrow. With no withdrawl symptoms! Which is hella surprise! Always a silver lining.
Omg yes, Billie and I have known each other for almost 20 years!! We were both waitresses at the Maid!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 She's getting sick of me trying to get her to move to Nova Scotia.
I know it's amazing that you and I haven't met IRL, I feel so bonded to you, and even got to send you seeds last year and you were so kind to show me the photos of how the little plants were doing, it totally brightened my life <3 <3
I'm glad you got that second opinion on your tooth, and wow to no side effects from stopping coffee, holy shit!!
There were definitely some crazy times hahahahaha...Billie's special cookies that she would bring into work on dayshift lmao, basically microdosing mushrooms every friday lmao!
Mam it's wonderful. You worked really hard it shown by looking at your hand & also your kids are also helping you. it's really nice mam. Keep smile like.this mam.☺

Yes, and I did it on the perfect day with the full moon last night, and now gentle rains here today... <3 <3 Horray for not having to water the seeds with our well!!
Oh, I got some plans! Though I have to say, I really enjoyed watching your little tours of your garden last year. So much plant life! Super cool stuff!

HAHAA you didn't miss much in the video, there was Edgar taunting the chickens, they're in the run now and Edgar is on the outs being a super biatch! And a bunch of soil lolololol!!! We had 2 days of rain after I planted, so yay, I didn't even have to water my seeds in, and now it's calling for 6 days of SUN!!! Couldn't have planned it better if I tried!!!
Yay for seed saving! I have a similar issue with gloves. I have about twenty lefts but no rights. Hoping to meet someone with the opposite problem so we can make some pairs again! :) Everything looks so lovely.

Must have been the weekend for planting, as we started to plat all our seeds to! And the majority of the plants are food for our chickens and my red eared slider Dave (aquatic turtle).
Fingers crossed we both get good harvests from this :)
YES! #lifegoals. We need to grow our own though as between the 5 chickens and 1 turtle we go through a min of 6 heads of lettuce a week!
But its also good to know you can go outside and cut some salad for yourself to whenever you need some. We are trying to grow as much as possible, lots of variety of both fruit and veggies. But gave up on potatoes as never got a good harvest lol
Oh you are so blessed. Do you know how very much I would like to be doing all that rather than undoing a home. Inside at that. I so wanted to plant sunflowers all over my yard, down near the rocks by the road and the driveway and Cosmos too. Urgh, maybe next year. Or maybe I will plant the actual plant and not the seed, Anyways nice to see. Jealous. However a good kind. xxxxx

I love this pic of you!
Thanks @bluelightbandit, I feel really really good right now!! Nothing like the start of a garden... <3 <3
Muddy hands are always a good sign.
I have gardening gloves but I much prefer not to use them. There is something quite magical about the direct contact with the soil...

You should get yourself some onion grass. It's like chives, but a bit grassier, and grows pretty much on its own, super easily.
Mmmm sounds awesome, I'll keep an eye out for the seeds.
