Clear blue sky

in #healing2 years ago

I’ve begun a habit of taking my dog on a walk right after everyone heads out the door for school. Getting everyone out the door is still pretty intense for me so it seems a nice invigorating walk is just the thing. The dog needs it too. She’s one of those high energy dogs—all four of her breeds are highly intelligent working dogs. We take a route that is roughly a mile long. I haven’t timed it or measured it yet but I do feel just slightly tired when we get home, so I think it’s the perfect distance for me. The dog could probably go for ten times as long.

Yesterday as we were nearing the end of our route I noticed that the sky was blue. That might seem unremarkable, especially for Colorado, but we’ve literally been living in a cloud of smoke for over two weeks! Among many other issues, the sky was perpetually “overcast” with this smoky brownish gray hue, and the sun was to some extent darkened. I literally had not seen a blue sky for two weeks! And yesterday morning I saw it and took it in.

The clear blue sky, the fresh air, the sounds and smells of rural living, the exercise, my amazing gorgeous dog walking so nicely next to me.

Blessings that are easy to take for granted but which the smoke taught me really can’t be just taken for granted.

I’m grateful for the clear blue sky!

Yes, I do a morning walk with my dog as well. I live about 200 meters from the beach, so it is a great start to the day... another walk follows late afternoon... good for the soul!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I bet the beach is beautiful in the morning!

Sure thing! The beach is always beautiful, but yes, especially in the morning :)
