So, yesterday I started on the high protein low carb diet. After researching I discovered I really needed 2 - 3 times the amount of protein I was actually getting the last time I tried this. Please see my post https://steemit.com/health/@alicemarie/do-you-really-know-how-much-protein-you-need-per-day if you have not seen it already.
Anyway, yesterday was my first day on the diet. No, I am not going to tell you I have had wonderful results already, it's just too soon. Next week we will see if I lost any weight yet. But what I can tell you about is the protein shakes I have decided to use to help supplement my protein needs.
I went with a product called "Premiere Protein". It had good reviews when I searched it out online and there are 30 grams of protein in each shake. That is huge!! The ones I used last fall had only 10 grams.

Yesterday I was able to easily get my total grams of protein up to just over 155 grams. I felt full all day. Didn't having any cravings or hunger pangs.
I started my morning as usual with my coffee. Got to have my coffee, LOL. I do use a little non dairy creamer and I use Stevia as my sweetener. No major carbs there!! For breakfast I had a protein shake and a small bowl of cereal, Honey bunches of Oats. I was full!! About mid morning I hard boiled some eggs and had one for a mid morning snack. Eggs have about 6 grams of protein each.
I eat my main meal at the noon hour. So for dinner I had meatloaf and California Blend vegetables, and another protein shake. No bread or potatoes. I was full. Mid afternoon snack consisted of a hard boiled egg and a protein shake. I do like the variety of flavors you can get with Premiere Protein.
My evening supper/snack at about 6pm consisted of a protein shake and 2 ozs of summer sausage, 1 oz of mild cheddar cheese and a hard boiled egg. Not real heavy eating by any standards but a little over 155 grams of protein. I do believe this is going to work!!
Premiere Protein offers 5 flavors in the shakes, Chocolate, Vanilla, Caramel, Bananas and Cream and Strawberries and Cream. I got them all except the Caramel. I will try those the next time I order them. They also have ones that are similar to flavored water but with less grams of protein, so I did not opt to try them at this time. I probably will once I get some weight off and I am ready to drop the protein intake a bit.
I did download the app "lose it" to my phone so I could enter in all my food and keep a more accurate track of my protein intake. I think it will take over a year to get close to my goal weight. I am willing to put in the effort, for me, for my health. I'll be posting my progress from time to time and I hope you take this journey with me and cheer me on a bit as I need all the encouragement I can get!!

I am not going to post how much I actually weigh but I will post how much I am losing, if anything, and how I am feeling physically with the process.

Hi @alicemarie, wishing you all the best with your diet. I think you'll have good success. A couple of years ago i dropped carbs out and it worked pretty well. Keep us updated huh? :)
@galenkp Thanks so much!! I think I will have success this time too. I will keep you updated as I go along. My first weigh in will be at the end of next week. Then maybe once every couple of weeks after that, LOL. I don't want to get too disappointed if it takes me longer than I want. :-)
30 G of Protein and only 1 G of sugar! I think you picked the best protein supplement out their! Best of Luck with the diet.
@robertchr thank you so much!! I am really hoping this works for me. :-)

Thanks @thehomesteadlife Graham!! Me too, LOL. I definitely have the will power, no problem there. I just hope it works this time because if not, I will probably be heading back to the doctor and truthfully, I hate doctors, LOL
I second that!! lol...doctors ..pffff
LOL
Good for you! ! I'm on a diet, er, lifestyle change, too. Mine is low carb, high fat. And yes, if you don't have the carb/sugar cravings, it's so much easier! It took me about a week to get past those. And I've had to tell myself it's all about the choices. It's just food. Is it that big a deal? I wish you success! ! You can do it!
I wish you the best with it. Don't forget the protein!! You have to have enough protein for your body. I also watch my carbs and keep them low. I don't worry so much about the fat or the calories. If you get enough protein you should also get enough fat. Best of luck!!
Thank you! Yes, protein. I eat eggs every day and meat with my meals. :) I use butter, coconut oil, bacon grease... the good stuff.
@clickinchicken, sounds like you are doing everything right!!
