Sure, breathing in clouds of dirt is not ideal for health. Definitely be wary and perhaps use a face mask when dealing with filter grade or pest control grade diatomaceous earth, but food grade DE does not pose the same threat to the lung tissue as other grades as it has a much lower crystalline silica percent composition.

When I posted this reply I did not notice the mention in the post about the difference between food grade DE and DE for industrial purposes.
I have handled diatomaceous Earth several of times having worked in science research labs for a number of years and it is something to be handled in a fume hood, or by wearing a mask while handling. Since that is the primary context in which I have handled DE, I had to express a 'warning' to individuals handling DE outside a lab setting without safety measures.
I do not know enough about food grade DE to comment. Doesn't sound any worse than talc. More power to you if it makes your meat suit shinier in a way that does not compromise its well being. I wouldn't mind trying food grade DE at least once for these purposes.
Thanks for your input & concern, @ztetrahedron369. We find food grade DE to be super beneficial without being harmful, and hope you will find the same if you decide to give it a shot!
