Week Three Challenge of the Six Week Health Challenge #sixweekhealth
I thought Week One of this challenge had a lot of entries. But Week Two put things into perspective. We had nearly one hundred and fifty entries! It took me and my team of judges nearly six hours to reduce that number down to the final seven. We were aiming for four finalists but the quality was just too good.
So first things first, before you read the new challenge this week - go and check out the finalists from last week. They need your votes to win up to sixty Steem! But also, before entering the challenge this week, make sure you read their blog posts so you get an idea of the standard your post needs to achieve if you want to be in with a chance of winning this week.
You can no longer enter for Week One or Week Two of the Six Week Health Challenge but you can still check them out below and try them yourself! After all, getting healthy is what this challenge is all about, winning Steem is just a little extra bonus (read on to learn more about winning sixty Steem this week).
Six Week Challenge Week One
Six Week Challenge Week Two
Week Three Challenge - Show us how you de-stress
Physical health is very important. What we eat and the exercise we do helps keep our body healthy, but mental health is just as important as physical health. That's why this week I'm setting a challenge that focuses on mental health. Every week the top entry will win for being the best post - voted for by you.
What I'm looking for is a post that shows off how you de-stress. Our lives can be very stressful and that can mentally tough. Finding positive outlets for our stress is essential for good psychological health, for healthy relationships and a positive outlook on life.
Your post should have loads of good photos, have high levels of detail and be well formatted. Obviously this topic will include a wide range of different activities and hobbies - you might de-stress with sports or activities, other people might use yoga or meditation and others might do a hobby like painting or craft.
Want the best chance to winthis week?
Here is what good posts will be judged on:
1. Lots of original photos
The point of this health challenge is to get involved yourself and to inspire others to do the same. If you post a bunch of stock images then that kind of proves that you didn't physically get involved this week or else you could have taken some photos. Posts should also have multiple images - one or two just won't cut it.
2. Limit the selfies
Last week we asked for interesting photography from your walk or run. About one hundred entries last week were discounted straight away because they were just selfies or pictures of people. Don't get me wrong - it's lovely to put a face to a name, but the challenge is about inspiring others, not about posting selfies. This week, when showing how you de-stress, we want loads of photos of the activity/equipment etc. not just selfies of you (though we'd love to see a couple of you doing your activity too!).
3. Your post should teach and inspire
Tell us why what you do to de-stress helps you. Do you like it because it calms you or because it helps you release some pent up energy? Show us why we might want to try it out ourselves. Perhaps teach us how we can get started and what equipment we might need (if any). Tell us and show us why it's amazing!
Stress is small doses is fine. But chronic stress is a different matter. Chronically elevated levels of stress can cause:
- Headaches
- Injury
- Joint and muscle pain
- Breathing issues
- High blood pressure
- Extra stress on the heart
- Low energy
- Weight gain
- Poor digestion
- Poor sleep
- Lower sex drive
- Depression
So it's pretty important to have good strategies to help lower stress, right? There's so many reasons to get involved and get healthier, while inspiring others to do the same. But there's also the juicy prize of sixty Steem to be won too! To win, you need to follow the rules below.
Rules for Entering - READ CAREFULLY!!!
1. Create a post with the tag #sixweekhealth about how you de-stress this week.
2. You must follow @healthsquared.
3. Your post must include at least three photos (selfies DO NOT count towards those three photos).
4. Your entry must include Week THREE and #sixweekhealth in the title.
5. You need to submit your post by 10.30am GMT on Sunday the 11th of February 2018.
6. Again, make sure you tag your post #sixweekhealth to be in for a chance to win sixty Steem.
Remember, the top four posts in #sixweekhealth will be entered in to the final vote at the end of the week. The most voted for post (voted by you) will win!
@sweetsssj has generously sponsored this challenge to help Steemians become healthier. She is putting forward half of all of the prize money with me (@healthsquared) putting forward the other half. If you haven't checked her out, get over to her channel and tell her that @healthsquared sent you! She has some of the most amazing posts on Steemit - you won't regret going to see her work. At the end of the full six weeks, the Steemian with the best posts overall will go in for a final vote to win 200 Steem! That means that between now and four weeks time, there's 440 Steem still up for grabs. Check out the original six week challenge post HERE for more info on that.
If you're as excited to get involved as me, and want to have the chance to win a load of Steem, then type 'I'm in' in the comments below and upvote this post. Then get crafting your post (make sure you read the rules and recommendations carefully). Use the FINALISTS from last week as a guide for how good your post needs to be if you want to be in for a chance to win. I can't wait to learn new ways to de-stress and look after my mental health and spread that with you guys.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Yours in health,
Coach Ben #coachben #sixweekhealth
Well done . Really wonderful work
A distinct idea. good for you
Thanks for sharing that with us.
Hi, I'm in on this new and fascinating challenge
Nice challenge, it's good to stimulate people to do positive things for themselves. Thanks for sharing. I wrote an article yesterday which is related to physical health and how to make your own natural multi vitamin supplements: https://steemit.com/ecotrain/@clara-andriessen/natural-or-synthetic-vitamins-how-to-tell-the-difference-and-how-to-make-your-own Feel free to check it out and I would love your opinion on it.
Very interesting :) You going to join in the challenge this week? :D
I was thinking about it but your picture demands are quite steep. I''d like to write a bout five rhythm dancing, which I like to do for relaxation, but I can't take pictures of myself dancing or anyone else right now.
The rules are there due to the participation in past weeks. We had 80% stock photos in week one and 80% selfies in week two. I'm not saying posts with stock photos can't win, however :) The effort, quality and inspiration are what counts most!
Ok, well that's good to know, as I don't think pictures you take yourself are perse better then the ones you can find on internet. Maybe I'll write for your topic. Thanks for the invite. :-)
Hey everyone.
Thank you for all of the entries, interactions and love on this challenge. The challenge for this week is now closed and we will be short listing entries ready for the vote today.
I've loved seeing the entries on this challenge so far. So varied and interesting!
Good luck to all of the people who joined in with the challenge this week.
Yours in health,
Coach Ben
Awesome. May the best steemian win.
I want to be healthy and fit but i can't do exercise what should i do now?
Well my first question would be, why can't you do exercise? And the second would be, what do you define as exercise?
Coach B
Very interesting post.
Thank you :) Are you going to join the challenge @olivia7?
It is awesome that you do stuff like this for the community
The great thing about Steemit is that by getting involved, the community is doing it for themselves :) It's Steemian posts that inspire us every week!
Good afternoon excited with this third week of the challenge, I find it very interesting, I think we can all learn from this challenge about how to get rid of the stress to achieve a healthy life. Grateful to @healthsquared and @sweetsssj for this wonderful opportunity
Glad to have you involved @dianacatalina!
Great idea for week 3!! Was wondering what you were going to come up with. I'm excited to get started :)
It took long hours of brain storming to decide on the right challenge. It's so important to look after our mental and emotional health too! Glad to have you involved again :)
Glad you're up for the challenge!
Thank you for each week to allow each challenge to see how we can work a little for our health, which many times we do without realizing it and without affecting our work schedule, I congratulate you and I hope not to miss a single challenge. I'm in
Great @felixrodriguez! It's important to find time for our health but if we can fit it in to our usual schedules then that's even better :D
Good afternoon, thanks for these challenges are excellent, I will try to meet expectations this week. A great challenge for our health, both physical and mental
Good luck! Thanks for joining in. Can't wait to read your post!
I love this challenge, I hope this time if I have the opportunity to participate.
I can't wait to see a post from you @danielacordellat. I think this week is going to be really interesting!
i am goin to upload pics of my nephew and niece... they are my real stress busters... i spend most of my time with them... they r just gems... if ur not goin to count them ... then i am sorry i am not entering ....
Of course all entrances count :) It's about the quality of the post! Good luck @shahaan, thanks for checking out the challenge. Can't wait to see your entry.
Good stuff i put a stone of weight on will use some of your tips, got to buy a cycle now the lighter nights starting in UK 17.40 dark tonight.
Yeah the dark evenings can be tough in winter, right? But every week the evenings are noticeably lighter now - it will be so nice to get home from work in the daylight soon! :D
keep up your great job
Great point, sometimes you struggle for an idea for a post and then other times you get flooded with ideas. Days I dont have anything good to post I take the day off of posting :)
Sometimes what I write is too long and boring I end up taking out a bunch of lines. Short and sweet is great!
Putting together this article didn't feel that short! ^_^
very informative post...
thanks @healthsquared
Thanks @mohamed118b!
hello thank you for the opportunity to prove to ourselves that with things that do not take much time and that we like we can take care of our health. Successes and blessings. I'm in
Great to have you involved @dayana82. I'm excited for all the entries this week :D
In again for this week 😁
Good to have you back mate!
Hello @healthsquared, I'm in, my greetings also for @sweetssj, this contest thrills me, winning the first one was very encouraging; I look forward to every challenge, towards health is our path; this week I will present the activities I do in my daily life to clear my mind of the overwhelming and inevitable stres, since life, work although I am passionate about my work, is always full of anecdotes and experiences that cause me much stress and I like doctor I am clear that this factor called stres is being the cause of many diseases. Ah these contests also release me stres.
I'm glad these contests help you relieve some stress @marialara :p It's great to have your passion back in the competition this week again!
I'm in! This is a perfect challenge because it hits on something so important we all need to do and that's destress and let go of anything that isn't serving us! Love it and excited to submit this week.
Can't wait to read your post @howtobelight! Thanks for joining it :)
Ever since i read this post I’ve been thinking "what do i do to destress?"I really have no idea, so you got me thinking about it! Maybe I actually do something but I don’t think it’s anything healthy (like sleeping for example). Hopefully I can get good information through contestants. I love the idea of this challenge. Maybe I'll come up with something.
I'm glad it's got you thinking. It might be that you naturally deal well with stress, or perhaps it shows you could do with finding a little time for de-stressing activities.
Either way, why not try something new this week then and tell us about it? :) Obviously many of us will be inspired by the posts this week and will be trying new things - why not show us your first attempts! :D That would be really interesting.
Good luck!
@healthsquared Oh, interesting topic for this week. Honestly, I also love to build and renovate stuffs to release my stress/tension.
Is it okay, if I use the renovation tutorial as the topic for this week? :)
Show us what you're renovating, give us some step by step photos and information and tell us what you like about it! Talk with passion and craft a great post and we'd love to see it! :D Great idea
What about cooking and walking, I like to do that to destress too, especially cooking is a meditative zen like experience for me :)
The last two weeks have been playing to your strength @street.yoga ;) Cooking and walking! There will be more cooking related posts so have a think if there's anything else you could show off that would help - yoga routines? :D Glad to have you back
Excellent topic i just read it..i hope it really work for the fitness oriented people
Everyone relaxed in different ways! I'm hoping for lots of cool fitness posts as well as hobbies and other activities :)
i'm always in.
I couldn't finish my post on time last week, but i'm gonna deliver this week. This is an interesting one tho.
can i slot in short videos?

Good job on the initiative and for organizing. This contest somehow match with my current status quo, as I'm again in a loop of stress - anxiety which I break almost always with the same recipe: walks and doing what I love.
Here's my entry for the Week Three contest:

Excellent @healthsquare, for me it is very interesting because for years I lived a cortical stress that led me to suffer from reflux and nervous colitis. I will tell you how I managed to overcome it.

https://steemit.com/sixweekhealth/@gilgal/sixweekhealth-week-three-a-nerd-s-way-of-handling-stress
Thanks for the great entry @gilgal! Getting off the mark early, well done :)
I'm excited for this challenge, I love doing these challenges make my mind clear, this is a new way to relax after my exams hahahaha
It will be like Challenge-Inception - the challenge is to challenge stress and doing the challenges help your stress... :p Can't wait to read your post @susanalara!
Great post!! I couldn't agree more, the nutrition we put in our bodies is vital. We Really Are What We Eat. Nature ingredients, fruit and vegetables aren't always easy to get our hands on during the busy work week. It's so much easier to run through our favorite fast food joint. Plus the cost of fruits and vegetables makes it even more difficult. But we have to try, I'm a big believer in gardening and living off the land.
The easier we can make things for ourselves to eat healthy, the better it is!
This is wonderful @healthsquared. You are doing great.
Are you joining in the challenge @edith5angelseu? :)
Hey @healthsquared! this is very interesting and new to me, thanks a lot for sharing it. Would definitely love to read more of your stories.
Cheers

Can't wait to see more information on your photography :)
Good afternoon, thanks for these challenges are excellent, I will try to meet expectations this week. A great challenge for our health, both physical and mental
Thanks @abdulkorim, it's gonna be awesome to read your entry.
Very informative post about Health but I want to need a advice from you about Health. I am only 5okg but My age is 30+ which is very short base of my age. Please give me advice.
Health isn't really based on age. So I wouldn't worry about your weight being lower just because you're 30+. However, if you wish to be heavier, and there's no medical reason for you being light, then the simple answer is more protein, more food, and exercise.
Hi @healthsquared. I've been looking for a health challenge and I came across your post. I'm in!
Hey @loveself, great to have you involved :D I'll look out for your post
Hello. @healthsquared. Thank you for the opportunity. I love this challenge and present gardening as a relaxation option. Here is my publication.https://steemit.com/sixweekhealth/@psidema/sixweekhealth-week-three-gardening-is-an-option-for-mental-health
I hope it will inspire others.
Thank you for your entry! Thank you for putting so much time and effort in :) Glad to have you involved in the challenge.
I'm in and I hope to help you guys through my ways of de-stressing.
Also, remember what I said about using adrenal formula by Dr.Eric Berg. I don't know if you can use it along with meditation. What I do is meditate whenever I have the time mostly in the morning. And then go to sleep on my left hand side.
I'll be good to hear more about your meditation!
Alright. Awesome. So quality content and quality photos and I stand a chance to win? Whether or not I win depends on a lot of things but for starters is this okay?
That's exactly what we're looking for, yes! :D
Alright.
very apt sir, maybe i get to join in the future challenges. i recently did a blog post on reducing stress using stress relieving toys i would appreciate if you could check it out and maybe drop a word or two about your review of it. i find the subject very fascinating and would likely do more post about it in the future. thanks
Don't join in on future ones - join in on this one! Sounds like it's just your sort of thing :)

Thank you so much for posting this! This is what i love about steemit so much, the community aspect.
I will definitely be sharing a post for week three, four, five and six!
Expect some talking about breathing in that good prana in a nature space, standing on my head, of course acroyoga and a bit on my look at musical instruments for "non-musiscians".
I can't wait to read it @erikdenoorman. Thanks for your enthusiasm for the community!
I'm in
Great to have you involved mate! Can't wait to read your post.
if people can't relieve the stress on them, they can become infertile in their future lives. Nice challenge @healthsquared
Chronic stress can definitely effect hormonal health! De-stressing is super important. Thanks for the comment!
