Snacking May Not Be The Healthiest Practice For You

in #health7 years ago

GREETINGS! It's been a while after long HOLIDAYS and now I'm BACK .. We're Blessed entering this new year of 2018 - in which another JOURNEY for us to face !

I just want to share this BLOG of mine because we all experienced taking lots of foods in our stomachs this Holidays or even in our regular meals not knowing it can lead us to unhealthy lifestyle ! so .. I would like to share a short talk about Snacking !

It is a common thing to SNACK ! 😋 🍔🍟🌭 right Steemians ?

In fact, snacking is so much customary to almost all people around the globe that it is even impossible to think about a day without it.

Usually, people eat thrice daily. You have breakfast, lunch and dinner, daily. But in between those meals, people often snack. There is a morning snack, and there is an afternoon snack. Some people might even enjoy midnight snacks. So aside from the three main meals, you have three others more. On the average, people thus eat six times daily.

This, apparently, is the “normal” frequency of eating. Nonetheless, there are some things that are happening in the digestive system that you almost would not want to know if you are such a snacker.

The digestive system, as well as any system of our wonderfully crafted bodies, operates based on some very special principles. Depending on the type of food you put into your mouth, the digestive organs would take some amount of time in digesting them completely. The usual duration for the digestion of fruits is only two to three hours. On the other hand, it usually takes four to five hours for vegetables to be completely digested. Amazingly, it would take the digestive system 72 hours to work out the digestion of flesh foods.

Now try to think about how this information would help you understand the effect of snacking on your digestive tract.

For instance, you ate fruits in the morning for your first meal. After three hours, the fruits you ate would have been digested. But, if you ate immediately after those three hours, your digestive organs would not have had enough time to rest. After a cycle of digestion, they would have been fed with something to work on again.

The worse thing is that, if you actually ate before the three hours were over, you have given your system additional baggage to work on. Why? It is because what happens next is that, the previous, half-digested fruits would have to wait somewhere in your digestive tract until the new clump of food recently taken in would reach the digestive stage previously reached by the half-digested fruits. This means that those waiting, half-digested fruits, instead of becoming healthful, would then get fermented. Worse, if you snacked more, like every two hours, the two partly digested clumps would have to wait again and again for hours and hours until they get rotten in the digestive tract.

You see, the feeling of some acidity troubling your stomach from time to time every day is not really due to a lack of food!

Neither is it a signal about any need for you to take in more food. Most of this “acidic” feeling

is due to the

WRONG PRACTICE OF EATING!

I love this article! I know its "trendy" to be eating small amounts all of the time to be losing weight. I definitely do best with 3 structured meals and minimal snacking. I also feel groggy with snacks, probably because I'm creating more work for my body! I have been trying to tell others my views on snacking and I really like the way you have explained it.

Thanks @pinnellaslisa I would love looking forward with your healthy lifestyle posts . See you

Am a programmer and i basically live on them, will adjust tho, thanks

yes your welcome @davidekpin :)
