Okra health benefits and cautions

Most people Ignore Okra and never discuss its amazing and benefitical properties.
So today i like to share some health benefits of Okra . Okra is frequently used in dishes from the Caribbean to China,and in some asian countries it is called (Bhindi) and its popularity is increasing all time, particularly because of its various uses. This vegetable pod can be used as a pickled vegetable, or an ingredient in soups, and dishes, and is also utilized for its oil, which can be extracted and used as a vegetable oil.
Improves Vision
Okra contains a very rich amount of vitamin A, as well as antioxidant its components like carotenes, xanthein, and lutein. Antioxidants are powerful compounds that destroy or neutralize free radicals, which are the dangerous byproducts of cellular metabolism. Free radicals are responsible for cell degradation in the body, including those responsible for vision. With high levels of okra in your diet, you can protect your eyes against macular degeneration and cataracts.
Kidney disorder :
One thing i feel wroste you need to know about while consuming okra is its high levels of oxalates. Oxalates could be dangrous for kidney health it bind to existing kidney and gallstones and cause them to grow and may worsen the associated conditions. Frying okra can also increase your cholesterol intake for the day,

In Africa, Nigeria specifically we consume okro a lot, it is called ila in yoruba language. Okro is mixed with all other meal like cassava, rice, pounded yam etc, it a crop to reckon with over here.

Am quite aware of its benefits but, yuck, it still doesn't taste good

Now i know why my friend had developed gallstone. He used to eat Okra daily every morning. It was easy to cook and thus he always went for it.

Interesting. This is definitely a vegetable that you have to acquire a taste for it. It's too slimy. Otherwise I prefer fried. Nice little bit to know on the oxalates.
